Tolerate That Itch

The desire for material sense gratification is an itch. If you give in and scratch it, the itch will become worse. And if you scratch it again, it will become even more worse. Scratch it a third time and it will become unbearable. Therefore the intelligent thing to do is be tolerant of the itch. Do not scratch it, no matter how intolerable it may become. In this way the itch will gradually go away.

This itch for material sense gratification is manifested in the form of the desires for illicit sex, intoxication, meat eating, and gambling. Therefore one should strictly avoid indulging in these, while simultaneously finding his happiness in chanting the Hare Krishna mahamantra. In this way he find unlimited peace and happiness within his heart and will be able to bestow unlimited peace and happiness upon the suffering people of this planet.

Question: Is It Okay to Dance Before the Deities?

Is it okay to dance in front of the Deities if one has not developed the attitude of dancing for the pleasure of Lord?

In submissive mood and with humble respects,

Sunil

Answer: You Must Dance Before the Deities

The attitude of dancing for the pleasure of Lord Krishna is already present with you. So if even if you do not feel like dancing, if you will dance anyway, the natural desire you have to dance for Krishna’s pleasure will become manifested, and you will happily find yourself dancing in ecstasy for the pleasure of Krishna. So feeling or no feeling you should always dance.
