There is a great devotee named Vasudeva Datta who was a singer during the pastimes of Lord Caitanya. Vasudeva Datta, the nineteenth branch of the Sri Caitanya tree, was a great personality and a most confidential devotee of the Lord. One could not describe his qualities even with thousands of mouths. He is the reincarnation of a very nice singer in the pastimes of Krishna in Vrindavan known as Madhuvrata. Srila Vasudeva Datta Thakur felt so much compassion for all the suffering souls of this world that he wanted to suffer their sinful reactions so that Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu might deliver them. He was so dear to Lord Caitanya that Lord Caitanya said, "I am only Vasudeva Datta's man. My body is only meant to please Vasudeva Datta, and he can sell Me anywhere." Kuntidevi and her sons were put into one difficulty after another for years and years together. Srila Prabhupada describes as follows in his purport to Srimad Bhagavatam Eighth Canto, Chapter 3, Text 7: "Devotees are always equal to everyone, seeing no distinction between lower and higher classes. Paṇḍitāḥ sama-darśinaḥ [Bg. 5.18]. They look upon everyone as a spirit soul who is part and parcel of the Supreme Lord. Thus they are competent to search for the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Lord Buddha is a very amazing incarnation of God because He taught atheism. The reason he did this is that after the beginning of the Kali Yuga, the most materialistic of all ages, which began 5,000 years ago, people were using the descriptions of animal sacrifices from the Vedas to justify cow slaughter.
