The Happiest Days of My Life

Image
When I was in high school my father many times told me, "Son, your college days are going to be the happiest days of your life." But when I finally got there my experience was just the opposite. My college days were the most miserable days of my life. But it worked out for the best because at that point I began a sincere search for spiritual enlightenment, which I finally attained after many years of intense struggle when I met my spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Now by his grace I know who I am and what is the purpose of my existence. And now since I have gotten the shelter of his divine lotus feet over four decades ago, I am truly living the happiest days of my life. And they keep getting happier day after day after day. What could be more blissful than this? Are We Nothing But Robots?

Image
According to what is now called science we are nothing but robots. Our human consciousness is said to be an illusion produced by chemical reactions in our genetically programmed brains. In other words, we are really not persons at all and thus have no inner life or subjectivity or point of view. This is the bleak conclusion of modern day science. But we challenge these rascal scientists that if our consciousness is nothing but an illusion, who is experiencing the illusion? We experience first hand at every minute that there is a conscious person sitting inside the machine called the body. These atheistic scientists, in spite of their big, big titles and fatty salaries are lacking in common sense. Therefore their so-called science is nothing but nescience, and by it the entire modern global civilization is being grossly misguided. So it's time to educate everyone in the actual science of the self, the conscious being sitting inside the body. When the human population rejects this

The Ultimate Cool Smart Tool

Since the introduction of the IPhone in 2007 the world has become enamored by smartphones, which are something like electronic Swiss Army knives. There are currently 1.4 billion smartphones being used all over the world by 22% of the global population. What all of these smartphone users do not realize is that there is a much cooler tool than the smartphone. The ultimate cool smart tool can do what no smartphone will ever be able to do. Always Keep Cool. You'll Be Ecstatic!

Image
In this material world things often go wrong. This can be very disturbing to the brain. If we allow ourselves to be disturbed by the misfortune we often experience here, we will not be able to peacefully keep our minds fixed on the Supreme Lord. Therefore we are advised by the great acaryas to always keep a cool head in all circumstances of happiness and distress. Such equanimity will allow us to always judge things properly and not be carried away by our emotions. In this way by understanding everything with transcendental vision we will find an ocean of unlimited ecstasy." Leading the World Out of Chaos

Image
Srila Prabhupada has given us the mission of leading the entire world civilization out of chaos. This mission has come down to us in disciplic succession having originated from Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu Himself. Until the entire world becomes Krishna consciousness we cannot rest easy that our work is finished. Until then we must endeavor like anything with great determination to save the poor souls of this world from their entanglement in the cycle of birth and death. Curbing Down the Demon Within Your Heart

Image
Everyone of us is actually a pure devotee of Krishna. But at the present moment we are covered by demoniac mentality, which has hijacked our original pure nature as devotees of Krishna. Therefore to regain our constitutional position as pure devotees we must conquer over the demoniac nature, which has invaded our hearts. We can do this by chanting the holy names of God as much as possible. So we should begin our day auspiciously every morning by making the chanting of the Lord's holy names our first activity immediately upon rising. This will set our mood for the entire day and help us greatly to curb down the demon within so that the devotee within can nicely manifest instead. Eighty-Eight New Lectures Are Now Online

Image
With the help of my disciples, Guru Das and Damodar Das (both from Riga, Latvia), eighty-eight lectures, which I gave between 23 July 2013 and 7 November 2013, are now enhanced and uploaded for your enlivenment and enlightenment. (Of course it is the message which is enlightening and enlivening, not the messenger.) To have had this opportunity to speak about the glories to Lord Krishna to so many wonderful audiences is Krishna's unlimited mercy upon this undeserving soul. This is His kindness upon me to keep me fully absorbed in His service and to give me a wonderful facility for giving Krishna consciousness to others. I am especially indebted to my wife and constant traveling companion, Her Grace Srimati Vishnupriya Devi Dasi, who helps me in many, many ways and to all the devotees who are assisting me in my humble endeavor to give Krishna consciousness to as many people as possible before I leave this world. Beware of Bad Association

Image
Our consciousness is developed by the company that we keep. If we associate with non-devotees, we will become non-devotees. And if we associate with devotees, we will become devotees. Therefore we should only associate with non-devotees to whatever extent is required to execute our duties and not beyond that. However, when it comes to preaching, we can associate with non-devotees unlimitedly because by our preaching to them they will also become devotees of the Lord. Don't Postpone Your Krishna Consciousness

Image
It is sometimes said that when you postpone an easy thing it becomes difficult and that when you postpone a difficult thing it becomes impossible. Therefore we should never postpone our Krishna consciousness. It should always be number one on our list of priorities. If in this way we always put Krishna first, the Lord will surely reciprocate with us and bless us with pure love of God. Krishna is Inconceivably Gorgeous!

Image
The most amazing thing about Krishna is His unparalled, inconceivably amazing, unlimited gorgeousness. He is one without a second because nobody can compete with His beauty. All beautiful things in this world are beautiful only because they are endowed with a infinitesimally fragmental portion of the beauty of Lord Sri Krishna. Indeed Sri Krishna is the epitome of gorgeousness. When You Have Krishna, You Have Everything

There is nothing that compares with Krishna consciousness anywhere within the three worlds--the upper, middle, and lower planetary systems--because when you are connected with Krishna you are connected with absolutely everything. This means that when you are fully dovetailed with Krishna there is no way you can miss out on anything worthwhile. Krishna Conscious and Lovin' It

Krishna consciousness is so wonderful that it empowers you to handle anything and everything that the material energy can throw at you. The Universal Revolution in Consciousness

Image
The Krishna consciousness movement is a revolution in consciousness which begins in the heart of the pure devotee and then expands outward to engulf the entire universe in a tidal wave of love of God. It's understanding is encapsulated in these four words which emanated from the mouth of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu when He took darshan of the deity of Lord Nrsimhadeva: bahir nṛsiṁho hṛdaye nṛsiṁhaḥ Srila Prabhupada has wonderfully translated these four words in the following way in his Srimad Bhagavatam purport: "Let Lord Nrsimhadeva sit in the core of my heart, killing all my bad propensities. Let my mind become clean so that I may peacefully worship the Lord and bring peace to the entire world." Srila Prabhupada is the perfect example of this principle. Because he has fully taken shelter of the Lord, his heart is 100% clean, and now by his pure and most powerful influence the Krishna consciousness movement will gradually inundate the entire universe drowning everyone in

Properly Understanding the Atma, the Real Self

Image
We are programmed in this material world to consider the temporary material body to be the self. But nothing could be further from the truth. This body is a mere covering of the self, a garment worn by the self. It is not the actual self. The real self is a particle of infinitesimal, indivisible, indestructible, anti-material energy, which is qualitatively one with the Supreme Source of all existence. In Sanskrit language this is called the atma. Recently in Tallinn, Estonia at Tallinn University I gave a seminar on this topic. At the conclusion of the seminar I was interviewed for television regarding my seminar. Here is what was broadcast from the seminar and the interview: at http://tudeng.tv/uudised/201346/index.html#3 Sankarshan Das Adhikari Srila Prabhupada Teaches Us Who We Really Are Answers by Citing the Vedic Version: Question: How to Excel and Satisfy Everyone? Sun Performs His Journey Mounting the Wheel of Time

Image
Just after taking off from Helsinki on 12 November 2013 on a flight across the Gulf of Finland en route to London we beheld one of the most spectacular sunrises I have ever seen. This immediately reminded me of this verse from the Brahma-samhitā: yac-cakṣur eṣa savitā sakala-grahāṇāṁ rājā samasta-sura-mūrtir aśeṣa-tejāḥ yasyājñayā bhramati sambhṛta-kāla-cakro govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi "The sun who is the king of all the planets, full of infinite effulgence, the image of the good soul, is as the eye of this world. I adore the primeval Lord Govinda, in pursuance of whose order the sun performs his journey mounting the wheel of time." ---Brahma-samhitā Text 5.52 By carefully studying the wisdom and seeing everything through it's eyes we can learn how to see everything in Krishna and Krishna in everyone and thus achieve unbounded happiness. Our Mission: To Deliver the World

Image
Just prior to Bhaktivinode Thakur's passing away in 1914, he entrusted the world deliverance mission of Lord Caitanya to his son, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur stating, "I am going, with my work for Caitanya Mahaprabhu's movement unfinished. So you take charge of it." In Los Angeles on June 20, 1975 when Vishnujana Swami asked Srila Prabhupada about the meaning of this, Srila Prabhupada said," Then let us finish. We are descendant of Bhaktivinode Thakur. So he kept unfinished so that we shall get the chance to finish it. That is his mercy. He could have finished immediately. He is Vaisnava, he is all-powerful. But he gave us chance." So now that this world deliverance mission has been passed down to our hands we must take it very seriously begging Srila Prabhupada, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur, and Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur that by their combined mercy we may be able to finish this work of delivering the entire world from the stringent

Transcendental Warrior Lecture in Helsinki

Image
Our last stop on our recent preaching tour in Europe was in Helsinki on 11 November. The temple president, Tapodivyam Prabhu, requested me to give a lecture on the topic "Transcendental Warrior." He procured a public hall and advertised my lecture. There was a turn out of about 25 people. I could immediately see the difference between eastern Europe, where we can easily attract 100 people to a lecture, and western Europe, where people are more deluded by the conception of material enjoyment. I explained to the audience that each of us must become transcendental warriors waging war on two fronts. We must battle the ignorance within our own hearts and also wage war against the ignorance which has completely captured the entire world society turning this planet into a hell. Sweet Memories of Another Ecstatic Baltic Tour

11 November 2013--Now that we have arrived by boat in Helsinki I am reflecting back on the ecstatic preaching tour we had in the Baltic states (Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia). The loving reciprocations we had with so many devotees in so many different situations was absolutely invigorating. The kirtans were often magical as we deeply, deeply absorbed ourselves in kirtan rasa. And so many new lights of wisdom came flowing out of Srila Prabhupada's purports as we studied his amazingly transformational writings. May Krishna Prema Now Flood the Universe

Image
Our mission is to flood the entire universe with an ocean of Krishna prema, pure love of Godhead. We want to do this because everyone here in this material world is suffering like anything being disconnected from their home and their actual identity. It's a horrible situation here. This place is a disaster area because nobody knows who they are. And without knowing who they are there is no question of their actually being who they are. Everyone here lives in a false dream of trying to be something that they are not. Therefore everyone in this place is miserable. Anti-Material Particle Lecture at Tallinn University

Image
The actual self is not material. It is a particle of indivisible, indestructible, infinitesimal anti-material energy. The modern day scientists have discovered anti-matter. But their knowledge of it is imperfect and incomplete. Their conception is that when matter and anti-matter come together they cancel each other out. They do not realize the indestructible nature of anti-matter. Therefore to try to help alleviate this knowledge gap in modern day science I gave a lecture on the anti-material particle on 7 November 2013 at Tallinn University in Tallinn, Estonia. My lecture was well received by an auditorium full of students. They asked many nice questions, and many purchased our books also. Mundane Logic Will Not Reveal the Absolute Truth

Image
It you want to realize the Absolute Truth, you are not going to be able to figure it out by mundane logic or by hearing from big, big poets, scientists, and philosophers. The Absolute Truth can only be realized by following the pathway of the great unadulterated, self-realized souls who have the Absolute Truth hidden with their hearts. This is confirmed in the Mahabharata (Vana-parva 313.117) as follows: tarko 'pratiṣṭhaḥ śrutayo vibhinnā nāsāv ṛṣir yasya mataṁ na bhinnam dharmasya tattvaṁ nihitaṁ guhāyāṁ mahājano yena gataḥ sa panthāḥ "Dry arguments are inconclusive. A great personality whose opinion does not differ from others is not considered a great sage. Simply by studying the Vedas, which are variegated, one cannot come to the right path by which religious principles are understood. The solid truth of religious principles is hidden in the heart of an unadulterated, self-realized person. Consequently, as the sastras (scriptures) confirm, one should accept whatever p

Srila Prabhupada's Disappearance Day

Image
Today here in Riga we are celebrating the disappearance day of our beloved spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the Founder-Acharya of ISKCON, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. This day commemorates that most painful but yet most glorious day, 14 November 1977, when Srila Prabhupada re-entered the transcendental pastimes of Lord Sri Krishna, which are going on eternally in the most wondrous spiritual sky. He was in his quarters at the Krishna Balarama Mandir in Sri Vrindavan Dhama, India surrounded by a room full of his loving disciples who were intensely chanting the Hare Krishna mahamantra. Srila Prabhupada departed for Lord's abode while uttering the name "Krishna." For his disciples it was the most painful and devastating blow to no longer have our beloved Srila Prabhupada here with us to personally bless, guide, and inspire us. Things in ISKCON are just not the same now as they were when he was here. Now our only

Have a Happy Eternity

Image
"Have a good day" is nowadays a common saying. But why should we only wish someone a good day? Why not wish people a happy eternity instead? Wishing them a happy eternity stands out as something unusual and unique. It automatically reminds them that they are not their bodies, that they are eternal spiritual beings, and that there is such a thing as eternal happiness. Being happy eternally is our constitutional position. It is only because we are presently stuck in an unnatural state of mind that we are experiencing any sort of unhappiness. So wishing people a happy eternity is an expression of your sincere desire that they may be reinstated in their original, natural all-blissful state of consciousness. You Can Live With Krishna Even in this Life

On 25 December 1973 in Los Angeles, USA Srila Prabhupada shared with us the most amazingly profound and wonderfully startling truth. He said, "If you become devotee of Krishna, then you can live with Krishna, even in this life. Even in this life. Because Krishna is omnipotent, if you are really devotee of Krishna, He will talk with you, He will dance with you, He will eat with you, everything." Giving Krishna Consciousness to the Children

Image
Krishna consciousness is the most important type of education because when one is Krishna conscious all ignorance is destroyed. While other types of education merely increase one's ignorance, Krishna consciousness destroys all ignorance. Therefore it is the first thing that should be taught to a young child. Here in Riga on 1 November 2013 I was blessed with the opportunity to meet with a group of children for furthering their Krishna conscious education. I spent a delightful hour with them discussing the science of Krishna consciousness. I asked them various questions to fathom the depth of their knowledge and gave explanations to help them deeper their understanding of the science of Krishna consciousness. And then at the end I distributed prasadam to them, which they eagerly accepted. One Krishna Conscious Man Can Deliver Millions

Image
Lord Sri Krishna explains in the Bhagavad-gita 3.21: yad yad ācarati śreṣṭhas tat tad evetaro janaḥ sa yat pramāṇaṁ kurute lokas tad anuvartate "Whatever action a great man performs, common men follow. And whatever standards he sets by exemplary acts, all the world pursues." In this connection Srila Prabhupada says that if one man becomes Krishna conscious, he can deliver many millions of people. So just as the great Vaisnava acaryas who are now departed were very powerful for influencing millions of people to take up Krishna consciousness, it is now our duty that we should also become powerful Vaisnava acaryas to carry on with our family business of delivering the entire world.
