Nobody Enjoys Life As Much As the Devotees

Why punish yourself with an inferior grade of enjoyment, one that is mixed with many varieties of suffering? Why not take a superior enjoyment, the topmost enjoyment, which is pure unadulterated bliss? The fact is that those who have awakened the divine consciousness within their hearts have more fun than anyone else in this material world because they have perfectly dovetailed their consciousness with the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Sri Krishna, the reservoir of unlimited pleasure. Thus they relish a rare grade of happiness which is not tinged with even the slightest trace of material misery. This is why nobody enjoys life like the devotees of the Lord. Love Yourself. Don't Kill Yourself.

The Vedic literatures mention the term atma-ha, killer of the soul. One who does not utilize his human form of life for awakening his dormant loving relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead is killing his own spiritual life. He is his own worst enemy. So instead of killing ourselves by a life of sense gratification we should love ourselves, our actual spiritual selves, by engaging ourselves in the devotional service of the Lord. This will bring us out of the perpetual deathlike state in karma chakra, the wheel of karma, and bring us into an eternal existence which is full of love, bliss, and knowledge. Are Hard Work and Money Everything?

One of our subscribers recently canceled his subscription citing the following reasons: "Everything is hard work. Nothing is achieved without it. All are after money." He's wrong that all are after money, that nothing can be achieved without it, and that hard work is everything. Those who become Krishna conscious achieve something far, far beyond even the wealthiest and most powerful people of this world. They don't have to work like asses to achieve it either. All they have to do is lovingly absorb themselves in remembering the Lord and offering Him the fruits of their activities. If one wants to know the real meaning of everything, he should see that everything is the energy of Krishna and should therefore be engaged in Krishna's service. Happiness in a World Filled with Hate

I see an ocean of hate in this material world in which practically everyone is drowning. Any religion or philosophy which promotes hate is not fit for human beings. The fact is that all living beings come from a common source. Whether you call that God, Allah, Christ, Buddha, Jehovah, or the Origin of the Universe, we all come from the same place. The only way we can have peace and happiness on this planet is to live in a loving harmonious relationship with our common origin. This will automatically bring us into a perfect state of peace and harmony with each other. We have to get back to our original pure state of consciousness before we descended into all of this egotism and exploitation. The Krishna consciousness movement is trying to resolve these most important global issues so that everyone can have a life of genuine happiness. Don't Try to Enjoy that Which is Temporary

If you try to enjoy that which is temporary, you are doing nothing but setting yourself up for a big disappointment. The price we pay for material enjoyment is misery. In other words, when you try to enjoy in a way which is against the laws of nature, your karma will bounce back in your face. Therefore the intelligent person only enjoys those things that are eternally enjoyable. In this way by absorbing himself twenty-four hours daily in the service of the Supreme Lord he is never touched by any of the unlimited miseries of this material existence. Love Seminar at the University of Tallinn

On 23 October 2012 I gave a lecture on love and compassion in an auditorium at the University of Tallinn. In this material world everyone is looking for love, but no one knows how to find the pure love that will fully satisfy them and never ever disappoint them. That pure love becomes realized when we connect ourselves in love with the ultimate source of all love, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the original fountainhead of love and compassion. Connecting with Him is not difficult. All we have to do is chant His names will love and we will feel the ecstasy. Answers by Citing the Vedic Version Question: How to Develop Compassion? Warmed by Kirtan on a Chilly Estonian Evening

Our Monday 22nd October 2012 was wonderfully surcharged with Krishna consciousness. After attending mangala arati from 430am to 500am at the ISKCON temple in Copenhagen we departed for the airport where we caught a flight to Helsinki, Finland. There we were greeted by the Finnish devotees and were driven to ISKCON's Helsinki temple for lunch. After lunch we travelled by ship across the Gulf of Finland from Helsinki to Tallinn, Estonia. In this city, which is the capital of Estonia, we were greeted by an ecstatic band of singing and dancing devotees. The chill of the evening was offset by the warm enlivened chanting of Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare / Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. There is only thing more splendorous than a day surcharged with Krishna consciousness, and that is all of eternity overflowing with ever-increasing unlimitedly nectarean Krishna consciousness. How to Avoid Artificial Renunciation

One who sees everything as the energy of Krishna and engages everything in Krishna's service is properly situated in renunciation. And on the other hand, one who rejects everything not seeing everything's relationship with Krishna is imperfect and incomplete in his renunciation. So, whatever position you now find yourself in within this material world, see it as the arrangement of Krishna and use it in His service to please Him. You don't need to quit your job or give up your family to awaken your dormant Krishna consciousness, the unlimited bliss within you. All you have to do is regularly chant the holy names of God and give up sinful activities such as meat eating, illicit sex, intoxication, and gambling. By these simple, blissful disciplines you will gradually experience how the Supreme Lord is within everything and how everything is within Him, and you will become fully qualified to enter His transcendental kingdom at the time of death. The Perfection of the Theological Science

Image
There is no one like Krishna. He is one without a second. He has no beginning and at the same time is the beginning of everything. His form is endless. He is not subject to decay. He is an undifferentiated entity as there is no distinction between His potency and the possessor thereof. This means that in His creation of millions of worlds His potency is completely inseparable. All the universes exist in Him, and He is present in His fullness in every one the atoms that are spread throughout the entire creation at one and the same time. There is truly nobody else in all of existence who possesses such potency. Therefore He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This understanding is the perfection of the theological science and is only comprehended by those who are Krishna's devotees. Go Deep into the Sound of Krishna's Holy Name

If you want to associate with God, you don't have to go very far because He is fully present in the form of His unlimitedly sweet transcendental name "Krishna." If you want to find Him in his name, all you have to is chant the Hare Krishna mantra with love and immediately you will be connected with Krishna, who then will personally elevate you to the transcendental plane. Does it sound too good to be true? If you remain skeptical, it will be too good to be true. But if you will put your faith in the holy name, you will feel how you are being transported to the spiritual plane. How this happens cannot be explained, but it is factually experienced by those who chant the names of God with faith and love. Transcending Sickness to Taste the Bliss of Bhakti

After being healthy on the road for two months sickness has finally caught up with me. Sickness, although not very welcome, is a wonderful opportunity to focus one's consciousness on the transcendental plane beyond the miseries of birth, death, old age, and disease. It is also a great opportunity to burn off more of the reactions of one's past sinful deeds so that one becomes more qualified for the wonderful process of Krishna consciousness. After an amazing life-transforming preaching tour in India, Malaysia, and Bali we have now landed in Europe at London Heathrow Airport to spread the rays of Lord Caitanya's benediction moon in this continent where it is most desperately needed. From the Holy Land of India to Europe

After a wonderful transcendental adventure in the holy land of India, feeling enriched with so many sweet, divine memories from Vrindavana, New Delhi, Pune, and Hyderabad, we are now heading to Europe to taste the nectar of more varieties of transcendental adventures while we engage in serving Srila Prabhupada's mission of spreading the rays of Lord Caitanya's mercy moon all over the world. Don't Give Up Anything. Use All for Krishna.

Image
On 18 August 1976 Srila Prabhupada gave a wonderful, powerful address for the opening of the ISKCON temple here in Hyderabad. He explained that surrendering to Krishna does not mean that one has to give up everything. He revealed that it means instead to engage everything in Krishna's service. Prabhupada gave the example of Arjuna, who was a military man. When Arjuna surrendered to Krishna he did not stop being a military man. Rather he engaged his fighting talent in the service of the Lord. So the same principle applies to us. Whatever talents or abilities we have can be engaged in the Lord's service. Just like in my own case, previously I was a musician, and now I am happily singing in kirtan for Krishna. Is God a Myth?

Many people claim nowadays that God is a myth made up to induce those who are less intelligent to accept moral principles. They reason that if one can be moral without God, there is no need for God. But before we blindly follow the atheistic herd we should carefully consider some important points: Since God means the original source of everything, atheism means to believe that everything came out of nothing. But where is the scientific evidence to establish that anything can come out of nothing? There is unlimited evidence to prove that one thing comes from another thing and zero evidence to establish that something can come out of nothing. So if we want to be scientific and not dogmatic or fanatical, we must accept the existence of God, the original something. Spiritual Revolution for Planet Earth

In spite of the repeated flowery promises of the world's politicians, there is no material solution for the multi-faceted perilous situation of the planet earth society. Because Krishna or God is the actual center of all existence, to live in a natural state of harmony with our surroundings requires that we awaken our original, natural, pure state of God consciousness or Krishna consciousness. Therefore a global spiritual awakening, a spiritual revolution, is absolutely necessary if the earth planet society is going to ever be peaceful, happy, and prosperous. Why Wear Vaisnava Dress?

Without Srila Prabhupada requesting them to, his early male disciples spontaneously adopted the Vaisnava dress of wearing dhotis. Then he instructed them to maintain this standard. He even personally taught Hayagriva das how to put on a dhoti. He said that his female disciples should wear saris and personally arranged that saris for his female disciples could be shipped to the USA from India. Why did Srila Prabhupada instruct his disciples to wear dhotis and saris when in the Western countries such dress is considered strange and when one can be Krishna conscious in any kind of dress? On a personal level the answer is that one should accept whatever is favorable for Krishna consciousness. Since wearing tilaka, neck beads, and a dhoti or sari reminds us that we are spirit-souls, eternal servants of the Supreme Lord, such wearing of traditional Vaisnava clothing is favorable for our Krishna consciousness and thus should be accepted. And insofar as our preaching mission is concerned, S

Accept Guru's Order as Your Very Life and Soul

The secret of success in spiritual life is to take shelter of a bona fide spiritual master and surrender unto him fully taking his order as one's life mission. Srila Prabhupada was ordered by Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati to spread Krishna consciousness to the English speaking world, and he accepted this order as his life's mission. And then in turn Srila Prabhupada gave his disciples the order to become guru and deliver the entire world. So now his disciples can accept his order to deliver the entire world as their life's mission and fully become absorbed in bringing about a spiritual revolution on this planet. The Bitter Sweet Taste of Leaving Vrindavan

Coming to Vrindavan is sweetness. And heading out to distribute Krishna's mercy all over the world is bitter sweetness because there is no place like Vrindavan. But preaching Krishna consciousness all over the world is as good as living in Vrindavan because one who is fully absorbed in distributing Krishna consciousness to the suffering people of this planet is always living in Vrindavan. Indeed, he carries Sri Vrindavana dhama with him within his heart wherever he goes and transforms every place he goes in Vrindavan. What could be more relishable than this? Even if we are not on that level yet to be able to fully understand and appreciate the Lord's presence, still if we maintain a humble mood, we are being blessed with the transcendental presence of the Lord at every minute. Relishing the Bliss at Krishna Balarama Mandir

Every morning at 7:15am here in Vrindavana at the Krishna Balarama temple we are treated to the most sublime darshan of Sri Sri Gaura Nitai, Krishna and Balarama, and Sri Sri Radha Shyamasundar freshly dressed in intricately decorated outfits and adorned with fresh, fragrant flowers for the day by their loving pujaris (priests). It is always a very thrilling dramatic moment when the conch shells blow and the altar doors open with hundreds of devotees bowing down and then standing up to behold the dazzlingly beautiful forms of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The Lord's amazingly gorgeous form is described as follows in the Brahma Samhita (5:32): aṅgāni yasya sakalendriya-vṛtti-manti paśyanti pānti kalayanti ciraṁ jaganti ānanda-cinmaya-sad-ujjvala-vigrahasya govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi "I worship Govinda, the primeval Lord, whose transcendental form is full of bliss, truth, substantiality and is thus full of the most dazzling splendor. Conquer Disturbed Mind by Connecting with Krishna

Sometimes in this up-and-down material world things don't go well and our minds become very disturbed. This is a golden opportunity to take shelter of Krishna, remembering His transcendental teachings, name, form, qualities, entourage, and paraphernalia. By doing so, the disturbance of the mind will fade away, and we will be situated once again in transcendental bliss. In other words, when our minds are disturbed this is not our natural consciousness. All we have to do to come back to our original, natural, blissful state of mind is reconnect with Krishna. Desiring to See Krishna's Pastimes in Vrindavana

2 October 2012--This morning Lord Sri Krishna gave me a lot of special mercy. On the request of the temple management I lead the singing at Srila Prabhupada's mangala arati in Prabhupada's samadhi. This was from 4:10am until 4:25am. Then feeling very purified and uplifted I headed back to my quarters in the Vrindavana Bhaktivedanta Ashram to wake up Sri Sri Radha Damodar, offer them some milk sweets, and then offer them mangala arati. Along the way while walking under some of the trees of Vrindavana I gazed up at the brilliant moon illuminating the night sky. This immediately reminded me of Lord Sri Krishna's most sublime Vrindavana pastimes. And then feeling surcharged from this remembrance and hankering to see the Lord and His lila with my own eyes I recited this prayer composed by Srinivasa Acharya describing the moods of the Six Goswamis of Vrindavana: he rādhe vraja-devike ca lalite he nanda-sūno kutaḥ śrī-govardhana-kalpa-pādapa-tale kālindī-vane kutaḥ "Que

How to Genuinely Enter into Vrindavana

One cannot enter into Sri Vrindavana Dhama by flying to New Delhi and catching a taxicab to Vrindavana. The only way to genuinely enter into and experience Vrindavana is to free one's mind completely from all forms of material contamination by taking complete shelter of the bona fide spiritual master and Lord Sri Krishna. In this connection Srila Narottama Dasa Thakur has sung as follows: viṣaya chāriyā kabe śuddha ha 'be mana kabe hāma herabo śrī-bṛndābana "When my mind is completely purified, being freed from material anxieties and desires, then I shall be able to factually understand Vrindavana and the conjugal love of Radha and Krishna, and then my spiritual life will be successful." Coming to the holy abode of Sri Vrindavana Dhama is an opportunity to cleanse one's mind and factually experience Vrindavana. To whatever extent we humbly take shelter of the Lord by absorbing ourselves in His service, to that extent and to that extent only will we be able t

Chant Hare Krishna on the Bus & While Bathing

Here is another sublime jewel from the treasure chest of Srila Prabhupada's teachings. This quote is from a letter to Minoru and Kenji in Tokyo that Srila Prabhupada wrote when he was in Los Angeles on 22 April 1970: "I am very glad to learn also that you are feeling joy while chanting the mantra Hare Krishna. Yes, it is exactly like this. If anyone chants this mantra in good faith and in simple understanding, then surely this transcendental vibration will act immediately in spiritual bliss. Please therefore continue to chant this mantra as many times as possible throughout the day and night. I do not think there is any inconvenience or loss on your part if you do so all the time. Even when you are walking, you can softly chant Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, or even when you are on the bus going to somewhere you can also chant. When you are working with your hands you can also chant and when you are resting or going to take rest you can also chant. Even in your toilet room whi
