The Latest and Greatest News

Do you want to be tuned into the latest and greatest news, the most significant things that are happening in the world? If so, you need to think beyond our insignificant "ant hill" earth planet and the puny universe of the four-headed Brahma that we are now inhabiting. You need to broaden your world conception to the entirety of existence in which the astoundingly amazing pastimes of Lord Sri Krishna are going on at every minute.

In this material world everyone is running after the latest mundane news. There are thousands of news publications printing millions of copies for daily mass distribution. There are also thousands of internet news outlets dishing out the latest updates of what's happening. Thus people all over the world are being bombarded with an avalanche of non-stop mundane new for their entire lives, and are becoming attached and addicted to being injected with these regular doses of the so-called latest and greatest news.

But what is the real latest and greatest news?

Here's what Srila Prabhupada says about it:

"Mundane news is static whereas transcendental news is dynamic, inasmuch as the spirit is dynamic and matter is static. Those who have developed a taste for understanding the transcendental subject matter are never tired of hearing such narrations. One is quickly satiated by mundane activities, but no one is satiated by transcendental or devotional activities. Uttama-sloka indicates that literature which is not meant for nescience. Mundane literature is in the mode of darkness or ignorance, whereas transcendental literature is quite different. Transcendental literature is above the mode of darkness, and its light becomes more luminous with progressive reading and realization of the transcendental subject matter." (from purport to Srimad Bhagavatam 1.1.19)

In this connection Lord Brahma, who is fully aware of every shred of news in this entire universe at every moment, has very sagaciously written:

ānanda-cinmaya-rasātmatayā manaḥsu
yaḥ prāṇināṁ pratiphalan smaratām upetya
līlāyitena bhuvanāni jayaty ajasram-
govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi

"I worship Govinda, the primeval Lord, whose glory ever triumphantly dominates the mundane world by the activity of His own pastimes, being reflected in the mind of recollecting souls as the transcendental entity of ever-blissful cognitive rasa."
--Brahma Samhita 5.42

Brahmaji is enlightening us that the Krishna news upstages or triumphantly dominates over all other types of news. And everything about Krishna is ever new at every moment. The topics of Krishna never become stale or worn out. So the conclusion is that the next time you are interested to tune into the latest and greatest news ignore the mundane news outlets. Instead try chanting Hare Krishna or reading the Bhagavad-gita or the Srimad Bhagavatam. Is you do so, you'll really know what is happening in the world, better than anyone else. You will be blissfully tuned into reality while everyone else is miserably drowning in ignorance.

Testimonial From K.C. Vijayakumar
I am working as the principal of a higher secondary school. I started receiving the daily lessons of the Ultimate Self Realization Course in 2009. At first I was not very serious, and I failed to read the lessons with the interest and seriousness I am having today. The daily thoughts and the answers are very much helpful to a devotee. The more I understand about Krishna Consciousness the more devoted and interested l become.
Hindu Religion has got many Acharyas and like many others I was also confused as to who l should follow and whose interpretations of the scriptures l should read. Sankarshan Das Adhikari's words clear the doubts by giving authoritative, authentic and quite convincing answers. The daily exhortations of Sankarshan Prabhu and the books of Srila Prabhupada help to develop love for Krishna and a clear understanding of the science of self realization.
Of course I tell about the e-course to my friends and colleagues.

Question: Why is My Life a Mess?

Why do I still find my life to be a mess, even though I am practicing devotional service?

Your servant,

A.D.

Answer: You are Lacking a Guru

You life is still a mess because you have not yet followed Krishna's order to accept a spiritual master. If you want to attain the transcendental platform, three things are required. You must take shelter of the bona fide spiritual master. You must solidify that shelter by the accepting the vow of initiation. And, you must be fully obedient to your spiritual master' instructions accepting them as your very life and soul. Then and only then will you be able to kick away all anxieties out of your heart and fully straighten out the mess that your life is currently in.
