Srila Prabhupada very mercifully is teaching us in his book, The Nectar of Devotion, how to successfully get the mercy of Krishna. He writes: "Therefore, instead of offering obeisances to Kṛṣṇa directly, devotees offer obeisances to His compassionate nature. It is a sad fact that many of our devotees have most foolishly left ISKCON in spite of Srila Prabhupada having ordered, “Please do not leave Krishna. You will not be happy. That is my request." Nicely practicing Krishna consciousness is like a surfer who is peacefully riding a wave in the ocean. He is joyfully riding the wave, but if there is some inattention on his part, he will "wipe out." He will fall off the wave back into the ocean. In a similar way if one seriously practices Krishna consciousness accepting the orders of his spiritual master, which are compared to the wave, as his very life and soul, he is just like that surfer who is joyfully riding the wave. But if one neglects the order of the spiritual master, he will fall back into the ocean of repeated birth and death. In Chapter Five of the Nectar of Devotion Srila Prabhupada writes, "Rūpa Gosvāmī states that devotional service is transcendental to all material considerations and that it is not limited to any particular country, class, society or circumstance. As stated in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, devotional service is transcendental and has no cause. Devotional service is executed without any hope for gain, and it cannot be checked by any material circumstances. I can never forget how fortunate I was on 27June 1971 to be in the physical presence of His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada at the Ratha Yatra festival in San Francisco.
