The Unlimited Compassion of Vasudeva Datta​​​​​​​

There is truly no greater devotee than Vasudeva Datta. He is one of the intimate associates of Lord Caitanya and he prays as follows:

jīvera pāpa lañā muñi karoṅ naraka bhoga
sakala jīvera, prabhu, ghucāha bhava-roga

“My dear Lord, let me suffer perpetually in a hellish condition, accepting all the sinful reactions of all living entities. Please finish their diseased material life.”

Just see the unlimited depth of his compassion. He is praying for the deliverance of all the poor souls who are caught up in the cycle of birth and death. He is willing to take all of their sinful reactions upon himself and suffer perpetually in hell so that they can be delivered back to home, back to Godhead.

Because of his intense devotion he was very, very dear to Lord Caitanya as described here by Srila Prabhupada:

"Vāsudeva Datta was such a powerful devotee that Krishna was purchased by him. Vāsudeva Datta stayed at Śrīvāsa Paṇḍita’s house, and in the Caitanya-bhāgavata it is described that Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu was so pleased with Vāsudeva Datta and so affectionate toward him that He used to say, 'I am only Vāsudeva Datta’s man. My body is only meant to please Vāsudeva Datta, and he can sell Me anywhere.' Thrice He vowed that this was a fact and that no one should disbelieve these statements. 'All My dear devotees,' He said, 'I tell you the truth. My body is especially meant for Vāsudeva Datta.'"

So just see how much Lord Caitanya reciprocates with those who are fully dedicated to His world deliverance. This is a hint for us on we also can become intimate associates of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, if we are intelligent enough to desire this.

My mind gets disturbed after chanting, and this is happening from 2004. I chant and get frustrated leave chanting for a day or two, do again, again get disturbed.

Please help.

All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Mayadevi is trying to divert you from chanting so that she can keep you in her clutches. Ignore her distractions and go on chanting without any concern about disturbance or non-disturance. In this way in due course of time you will completely transcend the realm of disturbance and non-distrubance and reside happily for all of eternity in the realm of pure transcendental bliss. Be patient. Be determined. It takes time to awaken your original transcendental identity. Persevere and you will be successful, as it is stated in Chinese wisdom: ”Perseverance furthers."

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments. Who is this Krishna?

Krishna is not a myth, nor is He an ordinary historical personality. He is the Supreme All-Attractive Personality of Godhead. He is the oldest of all while simultaneously maintaining the form of a 16 year old youth.
