You Must Get the Higher Taste

If you want your human life to be successful, you must get that taste which is higher than sense enjoyment. Otherwise you will remain a slave of Maya entangled birth after birth after birth in this hellish material existence. In Bhagavad-gita, Chapter 2, Text 59 Lord Sri Krishna describes the higher taste:

viṣayā vinivartante
nirāhārasya dehinaḥ
rasa-varjaṁ raso 'py asya
paraṁ dṛṣṭvā nivartate

"Though the embodied soul may be restricted from sense enjoyment, the taste for sense objects remains. But ceasing such engagements by experiencing a higher taste, he is fixed in consciousness."

The technique for getting the higher taste is to be Krishna conscious. And how to Krishna conscious is perfectly described as follows in the Sri Caitanya Caritamrita, Madhya Lila, Chapter 25, Text 265:

kṛṣṇa-tattva, bhakti-tattva, prema-tattva sāra
bhāva-tattva, rasa-tattva, līlā-tattva āra

"Kṛṣṇa consciousness means understanding the truth of Kṛṣṇa, the truth of devotional service, the truth of love of Godhead, the truth of emotional ecstasy, the truth of transcendental mellows and the truth of the pastimes of the Lord."

So we must always remain tuned into Krishna and thus turned onto our eternal transcendental identities as His servants.

Question: What Do When We Get Reversals?

Hare Krishna, Gurudeva,
Dandavat pranam please accept my obeisances.

I have a question. What should we do when we have very bad reversals in life? If I put an example recently my new car burned by a druggy in Melbourne which I was mostly using for temple purpose rather than personal. My mind had a bad thought even I used the car for Krishna's engagement why this happend for me? I can understand the cause philosaphically but comes on practical level am unable to hold it. What should i learn from this incident?

Regarding reversals Srila Prabhupada has
very wisely written us as follows:

"Sometimes the saintly or very religious person also has to meet with reversals in life. Such incidents should be taken as providential. Although there may be sufficient cause for being unhappy, one should avoid counteracting such reversals, for the more we become implicated in rectifying such reversals, the more we enter into the darkest regions of material anxiety.
Lord Krishna has also advised us in this connection. We should tolerate things instead of becoming agitated."

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
