How to Become Fearless

Nobody likes to be afraid. The good news is that nobody has to ever be afraid ever again. All one has to do is take complete shelter of Krishna putting all one's faith and trust completely in Him. Then one becomes completely free from all fear and anxiety. In this connection Srila Prabhupada writes as follows in his purport to Srimad Bhagavatam, Canto 1, Chapter 17, Text 22:

"A devotee of the Lord is always fearless because of the protection given by the Lord. Material existence is something like a blazing fire in the forest, which can be extinguished by the mercy of the Lord Sri Krishna. The spiritual master is the mercy representative of the Lord. Therefore, a person burning in the flames of material existence may receive the rains of mercy of the Lord through the transparent medium of the self-realized spiritual master. The spiritual master, by his words, can penetrate into the heart of the suffering person and inject knowledge transcendental, which alone can extinguish the fire of material existence."

Question: How to Deal with Fear?

Hare Krishna, Guru Maharaja,

Please accept my humble obeisances.

As a devotee, if one feels fear very often like when faced with a big decision or when faced with any minor difficulties, how does the devotee progress? Does this mean that devotee is still in a contaminated position? I heard once that fear is a result of a contaminated consciousness.

Yes, fear means that he is in contaminated state of consciousness because for one whose consciousness is completely pure there is no such thing as fear. So when one finds himself in a fearful situation he should simply complete take shelter of Lord Sri Krishna begging for His protection. In this way his fear will go away, and Krishna will help him to expertly, intelligently deal with the problematic situation.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments. Krishna is not a myth, nor is He an ordinary historical personality. He is the Supreme All-Attractive Personality of Godhead. He is the oldest of all while simultaneously maintaining the form of a 16 year old youth.
