Appreciation is the Key

The Srimad Bhagavatam 2.7.53 gives us the simple formula how to become liberated from the illusory energy:

"The Lord's activities in association with His different energies should be described, appreciated and heard in accordance with the teachings of the Supreme Lord. If this is done regularly with devotion and respect, one is sure to get out of the illusory energy of the Lord."

A key word to focus on here is the word "appreciated." We need to talk about and hear about Krishna with keen appreciation. The degree of appreciation that we have indicates our level of spiritual awakening. So we should strive to appreciate the topics and names of Krishna to the fullest possible extent as we regularly engage in hearing and vibrating them. This will quickly free us from the clutches of the illusory energy.

Question: No Reaction from Sinful Thoughts?

In the Srimad Bhagavatam it is is mentioned that one of the advantage of the present age of Kali is that a living being does not become a victim of a sinful act until the act is actually performed. So then what about our mental offences that we commit due to our conditioning? Our mind plays a lot with us, and we suffer because of mental offences. So how to understand this statement that we do not get the reaction?

Answer: Sinful Thoughts Lead to Sinful Actions

Thinking something bad does not give the same karmic reaction as having done something bad. But if your mind dwells on sinful things, you will develop a desire to do sinful things and end up eventually doing sinful things. Therefore we have to clean the mirror of the mind by regularly chanting Hare Krishna and hearing and reading about Krishna. Otherwise we will fall down from the platform of Krishna consciousness.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. Krishna is not a myth, nor is He an ordinary historical personality. He is the Supreme All-Attractive Personality of Godhead.
