No Time for Anything Else

Live your life in such a way that there is no room for maya or illusion anywhere within your 24 hours, 7 days a week. Have so many things that you are doing and want to be doing for Krishna that 24 hours daily is just not enough time to get them all done. For example, Srila Prabhupada gave us the order to deliver the entire world. That one order alone is enough to keep us fully busy in Krishna's service for our entire lives with no time for anything else.

Question: Proper Way to Inquire from the Spiritual Master?

Hare Krishna.
My dear Srila Gurudeva,

Please accept my humble obeisances
All glories to you and Srimati Gurumataji
All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Srila Gurudeva, I was once told by a devotee that it is offensive and thus better not to ask questions from your spiritual master if you feel you might get a different answer than what you expected and an instruction that you may not be able to follow. Is this true? If this is so, then where is the point of surrender to the spiritual master. Gurudeva, please enlighten this fallen soul.

Thank you!!

Answer: In a Mood of Full Surrender

You were intelligent to doubt this absolutely ridiculous advice. This is like saying that I will only go to a physician if he gives me candy, that I will not go to him if he is going to give me medicine. With such a mentality one will never be cured of his material disease. He will remain caught up in the cycle of birth and death. To be successful in spiritual life we must sometimes accept those things that we do not want to accept and reject those things that we would rather not reject. This is how we make advancement. This foolish neophyte devotee is advising you to take a guru like you would keep a pet dog, that your guru should surrender to you, not that you have to surrender to your guru. Such a so-called guru-disciple relationship is completely useless. Therefore we only take instructions from those who can guide us properly along the pathway of pure devotion, not foolish speculating neophytes like this. The advanced, highly qualified devotees are known as siksa gurus (instructing spiritual masters), and their guidance is absolutely essential for achieving the supreme perfection of pure Krishna bhakti.
