Keep Your Nose Above the Water

Even if you find yourself out in the middle of a large body of water, you will not drown if you can keep your nose above the water. In a similar way if you can always remember Krishna even in the midst of the most hellish, nightmarish conditions of material existence, you will not fall down from the spiritual platform. Therefore you should always practice the art of remembering Krishna in all situations, both the pleasant and the unpleasant. By this simple act of always remembering Krishna you will experience how you are swimming in an ocean of unlimited transcendental bliss at every minute.

Question: Why Pure Devotee Does Not Desire Liberation?

Srila Prabhupada writes in the Nectar of Devotion that by practicing devotional service devotees don't even desire for getting the four types of liberation from the Supreme Lord in the spiritual world. If this is so, then how will the conditioned souls in the material world who are practicing devotional service gain eternal life in the spiritual world by the mercy of the Supreme Lord to serve the Supreme Lord eternally because all the devotees final aim is to have loving eternal relationship with the Supreme Lord in the spiritual world? Kindly explain why the pure devotee doesn't ask for liberation from the Supreme Lord and why most of the devotees want to eternally associate with the Supreme Lord in the spiritual world.

Answer: He's Already Liberated

The desire to go back to Godhead is good for the neophytes to help them focus their minds on Krishna in order to escape from this world of miseries. However, the fully realized devotees are already liberated and thus intimately associating with Krishna at every minute even while they are still in this material world. This is why they don’t need to go back to Godhead to get Krishna’s association.

In this connection Srila Prabhupada writes as follows in his purport to Bhagavad-gita 8.15:

"The mahatmas receive transcendental messages from the realized devotees and thus gradually develop devotional service in Krishna consciousness and become so absorbed in transcendental service that they no longer desire elevation to any of the material planets, nor do they even want to be transferred to any spiritual planet. They only want Krishna and Krishna's association, and nothing else."

The conclusion is that the pure devotee is constantly associating with Krishna either in the material world or in the spiritual world.
