Blisskrieg in Downtown Austin

In warfare there is a strategy calls blitzkrieg, which in German literally means "lightning war." Blitzkrieg is an intense all out military campaign intended to bring about a swift victory. On Saturday 12 March 2016 taking advantage of the South-by-Southwest festival which has attracted 200,000 people to come to downtown Austin, we launched our version of blitzkrieg, know as "blisskrieg", to drown the people in downtown Austin in an ocean of transcendental bliss. To be out there in the midst of hundreds of thousands of people blessing them with Krishna consciousness was unimaginably ecstatic. We chanted down so many streets and so many people went home with the greatest treasure of their lives after purchasing one of Srila Prabhupada's books. If you want to taste the sweetest nectar join the sankirtana party in your town as soon as possible.

Question: Why Pure Devotees Suffer?

Srila Gurudeva, in the Bhagavad-gita it is mentioned: "...a person in Krishna consciousness who eats only food offered to Krishna can counteract all reactions of past material infections, which are impediments to the progress of self realization." Does past material infections refer to our past karma? If it does, then how is it that pure devotees, who take only prasadam, suffer because of some diseases and other miseries? Please enlighten this fallen soul.

Thank you!

Answer: Their Suffering is Only Superficial, Not Factual

This infection is the contamination of consciousness. It is karma, the cumulative effect of so many sinful activities committed in the past.

In the material world even the bodies of pure devotees get sick, old, and die because that is the law of material nature. However, this does not mean that they are suffering karmic reactions. In spite of so many apparent sufferings the pure devotees are always tasting the highest happiness of Krishna consciousness within their hearts. In other words, their suffering is only superficial. It is not factual.
