Appearance Day of Lord Caitanya

Today we are unlimitedly blessed because today is the transcendental appearance day of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, who is none other than the Supreme Personality of Godhead Lord Sri Krishna Himself appearing in the form of His own devotee. We offer our most humble respectful obeisances unto Him and Lord Nityananda with the following most auspicious prayer:

vande śrī-kṛṣṇa-caitanya-
nityānandau sahoditau
gauḍodaye puṣpavantau
citrau śan-dau tamo-nudau

"I offer my respectful obeisances unto Sri Krishna Caitanya and Lord Nityananda, who are like the sun and moon. They have arisen simultaneously on the horizon of Gauda to dissipate the darkness of ignorance and thus wonderfully bestow benediction upon all."--Sri Caitanya Caritamrita, Adi 1.2

It is not possible to even begin measuring the unlimited extent of our good fortune that we have come into contact with Lord Caitanya's sankirtana movement, because such contact is tantamount to directly meeting God face to face. Therefore let us not waste our unlimited good fortune by holding on to even the slightest tinge of material sense gratification consciousness. Let us all dive now into the unfathomably deep ocean of Lord Caitanya's mercy immersing ourselves fully in Krishna consciousness and in spreading Lord Caitanya's movement into every town and village and heart all over the world in fulfillment of the prediction given in the Caitanya Bhagavat:

pṛthivīte āche yata nagarādi grāma
sarvatra pracāra haibe mora nāma

"In as many towns and village as there are all over the world this Krishna consciousness movement will be spread."

There is truly no more glorious life than this!

Question: How Was Hare Krishna Composed?

I am very happy imagine that you actually met Prabhupada. :) I have a picture of him in my office downtown. I love so much the Hare Krishna mantra, the vibration of it. It is one of the greatest musical compositions of all times. Did Prabhupada ever mentioned how/ when he composed it?

Hare Krishna.
Luis

Answer: It Comes Directly from Krishna Himself

Yes, by the unlimited mercy of Lord Sri Krishna I had to opportunity to personally meet Srila Prabhupada. I had a private one-on-one meeting with him in 1975 in Atlanta, Georgia. Plus I corresponded with him often and have as my greatest treasure many letters that he wrote me guiding me in many aspects of my spiritual life.

Although Srila Prabhupada popularized the Hare Krishna mantra making it known throughout the world, he did not compose it. It is coming from Krishna Himself and has come down to us in the modern age through the ancient system know as disciplic succession. It is recommended in the Kali-santarana Upanisad, in the Brahmanda Purana, and in the Vayu Purana. It was popularized 500 years ago all over the India by Krishna Himself appearing incognito in the form of His own devotee, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. And it has now been popularized all over the world by my beloved spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
