The Hare Krishna Mantra Cures Depression
December 14, 2025
As a young college student I was very depressed because all I could see of my future was a pathway to death. It was considered taboo by my classmates to even admit that one is depressed because everyone wanted to maintain the illusion that life is fun. I could find no cure for the depression that was eating me alive until one evening in the fall of 1968 in Denver, Colorado, USA a friend named Patrick Dolan introduced me to the Hare Krishna mantra:Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare
Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare
Ever since then my life has been turned into the most amazing, exciting adventure.
So all those people throughout the world who are suffering from depression can get profound relief by connecting with this impeccably, marvelous mantra through the technique of hearing and chanting it as much as possible every day.

Urgent! Please Help Us Make the World Krishna Conscious.
Donate Now by Clicking HereToday I heard your nectarean Bhagavad-gita Class 16.5 on YouTube, online from ISKCON Vrindavan. The class was very helpful in building a connection with Srila Prabhupada and was truly hope-giving.
My question related to the class:
Guru is absolutely needed to know Krishna, but what is the position of a person who is not serious about Krishna consciousness?
I am not someone great, but someone who is trying to take shelter of Srila Prabhupada. I am not demanding, but I request that, as you are in India, if you like, please visit our ISKCON temple at Juhu, Bombay, and give class.
Whenever you plan to visit, then please inform me so that I can try to be present.
Please forgive me if I am making an offense. I do not know much about how to deal with Vaishnavas.

Answer
From: Sri Vrindavan DhamaMy Dear Abi,
Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda.
There is no offense. Your etiquette of submissive inquiry is first class.
Even a person who is not serious can become serious by getting the association of the bonafide spiritual master. Such association can have a powerful impact to elevate the consciousness of even someone who is not serious about Krishna consciousness.
I am very happy with you that you are trying to take shelter of Srila Prabhupada, the Founder-Acharya of ISKCON. Take his instructions very seriously and your life will be unlimitedly sublime.
I hope this meets you in the best of health and in a cheerful mood.
Your ever well-wisher,
Sankarshan Das Adhikari

How I Came to Krishna Consciousness
In a world obsessed with money, fame, and fleeting pleasures—leading nowhere but to the grave or the crematorium—I walked away. Life felt so meaningless, I couldn’t stand it. This is the true story of how I turned my back on the American materialistic dream and discovered something far greater: Krishna consciousness. A gripping journey of inner revolution and a call to awaken a world civilization on the edge of collapse.Read My Memoir You'll Love It!
