Srila Prabhupada Very Much Encourages Me

December 21, 2025

After being blessed with the Hare Krishna mantra in December of 1968 I embraced the career path of renouncing the world to become a holy beggar in India. But on the way to India I realized that the perfection of renunciation was to renounce renunciation and accept something transcendental. I wondered what that would be and then realized that I must embrace the world deliverance mission. Without any idea of what to do I set out my own to deliver the world from chaos. But then Krishna blessed me with a spiritual master who taught me exactly what to do. My beloved spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, taught how to respiritualize the human society by pushing forward the Krishna consciousness movement. And he has very much encouraged me in my world deliverance mission by this instruction:

A Kṛṣṇa conscious being is always engaged in planning how to take all of suffering humanity back home, back to Godhead. (from purport to Srimad Bhagavatam Fourth

Canto, Chapter 12, Text 36)

Thank you, Srila Prabhupada, for engaging my save the world propensity in the service of Krishna.

Hare Krishna, dear Guru Maharaj,
Dandavat Pranams.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada, to you, and to Guru Mataji.

What is the concept of 'daridra Narayan' ?

Some people say, "Service to man is service to God".

Please enlighten me about this.

My Dear Gaurav,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda.

Nowadays some foolish persons have manufactured the term daridra-nārāyaṇa, indicating that the poor beggar on the street is Nārāyaṇa. How can the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the possessor of unlimited wealth, be a poor beggar on the street? This is not possible. These fools think that there is no need to worship Krishna or Narayana in the temple, that all we have to do is feed the beggars.

ISKCON worships Krishna in the temples and regularly distributes millions of servings of Krishna prasadam to the public all over the world. Because Krishna (Narayana) is unlimitedly rich, not poor (daridra), He is feeding the whole world every day.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in a cheerful mood.

Your ever well-wisher,
Sankarshan Das

How I Came to Krishna Consciousness

In a world obsessed with money, fame, and fleeting pleasures—leading nowhere but to the grave or the crematorium—I walked away. Life felt so meaningless, I couldn’t stand it. This is the true story of how I turned my back on the American materialistic dream and discovered something far greater: Krishna consciousness. A gripping journey of inner revolution and a call to awaken a world civilization on the edge of collapse.
