Christmas is Celebrating the Appearance Day of Jesus Christ

It was December of 1970. I was 23 years old. I was a young hippie singer-songwriter on a mission to spark off a global spiritual revolution. But yet I knew I was still lacking spiritual realization. I expressed this in one of my songs: Everything is sacred no matter where I turn. Everything is sacred. I have so much to learn. I wanted to find God. I craved spiritual awakening. Wondering how to attain it, knowing that Jesus Christ is a fully awakened spiritual being, I scrutinizingly read the Bible, trying to figure out how he was situated in such an exalted state of divine consciousness.

And then one day I found it!

As stated in Luke 22.42 Jesus prays to God In the garden of Gethsemane shortly before the arrest that led to his crucifixion, (being nailed to a cross and left to die)

“Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but Thy will be done.”

— Luke 22:42

Can you imagine how heavy that is? He is praying to God, begging that he can fully surrendered to His will, even if it means being cruelly put to death.

This concept of full surrender to will of God is also taught by Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad-gita in the Bhagavad-gita:

sarva-dharmān parityajya
mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja
ahaṁ tvāṁ sarva-pāpebhyo
mokṣayiṣyāmi mā śucaḥ

Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reactions. Do not fear. - Bhagavad-gita 18:66

From Jesus I understood that spiritual perfection means to be fully surrendered to the will of God, no matter that may be. And Srila Prabhupada and his beloved disciples have taught me how to do that. Therefore I celebrate the appearance day of my beloved siksha guru, His Holiness Lord Jesus Christ, thanking him for showing how to enter the golden pathway of unlimited devotion.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
