There Are Never Any Difficulties for the Pure Devotee
When you remember Krishna there are never any difficulties because every situation you face is another blessing from Krishna, another opportunity to absorb yourself more deeply in Krishna consciousness. Conversely, when you forget Krishna you are thrown into an ocean of unlimited difficulites. Therefore the intelligent person makes it his topmost priority to remember Krishna at every moment. For such a pure devotee there are never any diffiulties at any moment.

Question: How to Not Be Disturbed by Atrocities of Terrorists?
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
Some times when I read or hear about Islamist fanatics my mind gets disturbed. The way these guys are doing bloodshed in every part of the world and the way they are willing to kill every non Muslim in the world really gives me lot of hard emotions. I fell like that I should join the war against them and protect our people.
I understand that this type of mentality is not good for a neophyte devotee like me. We need to think beyond this body as we are souls but somehow I am not able to get out of this. Every time I am dragged into this by reading news or watching videos on internet.
Please suggest me a way out of this. Please tell me what should be the mood of a devotee when there is a danger of physical attack based on faith.

Answer: Increase Your Feelings of Disturbance
Instead of giving up such disturbance, I encourage you to increase your feelings of disturbance because to be disturbed seeing the abuse of others is one the symptoms of a Vaisnava. Devotees cannot tolerate seeing the torture and exploitation of others. Therefore you should not give up your disturbed mentality. Keeping this mentality firmly within your heart you should dedicate yourself fully to Lord Caitanya's movement of delivering the poor suffering souls of this world from illusion by spreading the Krishna consciousness movement as much as you possibly can during your lifetime. In this way you will be instrumental in bringing out a respiritualization of the human society and the curbing down of the demoniac mentality, which is currently ever-increasingly polluting the human society.
If there is a physical attack of a devotee in your presence, you must do the needful to protect that devotee from harm even at the risk of your own life. On one occasion many years ago in Miami, USA our temple was besieged by armed bandits. They had a gun at the head of one of our women and demanded that the devotees get down on the floor. Instead of co-operating with these rascals I yelled loudly the name of Lord Nrsimhadeva. Momentarily the gun instead was pointed at me. But then soon by Lord Nrsimhadeva's grace the bandits were running like scared bunny rabbits back out into the dark night from where they had come, never to return again.
