Offer Your Talents in Krishna's Service

Whatever talents and abilities that one has should be used in the service of Krishna. This is the perfection of one's talents. Regarding utilization of talents Srila Prabhupada has stated as follows:

"The more we serve, the more dedicated to Krishna we become; therefore a person should utilize whatever talents he has for Krishna."

"You engage all your talents and energies for realizing God. Krishna consciousness. This is ideal life."

"So our request is that everyone with his talents should establish the authority of the Supreme."

When people join the Krishna consciousness movement they bring their talents with them. But their talents do not stop there because as soon as they engage themselves sincerely in Krishna's service so many new talents will naturally spring forth from their inner being transforming their lives into a beautiful, poetic expression of love for the Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Question: Is Work Karma Yoga?

Dear Gurudeva,
Please accept my humble obeisance at your lotus feet.
All Glories to Srila Prabhupada!!

From childhood I have heard that work is worship and many times people had told me that karma yoga is recommended for house holders like us. They say that do your work with best of your efforts and it will be counted as your worship. Is it true?

Want to ask which yoga is best and why?

Hare Krishna

Answer: Work is Karma. Working for Krishna is Karma Yoga.

What you have heard from your childhoold is not true. Doing your work is karma. It is not worship. It is not karma yoga. Karma yoga is when you offer the fruits of your work to Krishna, not when you engage it in the service of your senses and the senses of your family members, which is simply karma. So what people in India call karma yoga is actually karma, and it binds them perpetually to the cycle of birth and death.

The perfection of yoga is to connect yourself with Lord Sri Krishna through loving devotional service because it is only by connecting with Krishna that you can be delivered from this material existence.
