Our Fund Raising Drive Was a Success!

Thanks to Lord Sri Krishna and our kind-hearted donors we hit the target of collecting $80,000 towards getting a temple for ISKCON Austin.

In 1971 Srila Prabhupada personally ordered me to make the Austin center a grand success. For the 43 years since ISKCON came to Austin it has never had a temple building. We have thus been meeting in houses and apartments. Now with the help of 298 of our generous readers we are a step closer to doing this special something for Srila Prabhupada in Austin. We now have $280,000 on hand to help us carry our project to the next level.

Our fund raising drive was for $80,000 because that is how much we were short to purchase a house for $280,000 that we planned to renovate and turn into a temple. We put the house under a purchase contract and had it inspected by a professional house inspector. The results were not good. The house would cost up to $200,000 to renovate. Therefore we considered it wiser to instead buy empty land where we could get a much larger lot for a comparable price and then build a brand new temple building exactly according to our own design.

It is not easy to find what we are looking for in Austin because this city is experiencing a real estate boom. We are limited both by our small budget and by our needing a property where we can have both a temple and an ashram. But we will continue actively pursuing the discovery of a suitable property until we find one. We request all of our readers in the Austin area to keep their eyes open to help us find a suitable property. Also any further contributions will give us the financial to access more properties and are therefore certainly most welcome. They can be made at:

Question: How to Convince Skeptics of Prabhupada's Glories?

Many folks still don't know about Srila Prabhupada. They think he just went to the USA to make money and get residency there. They are not willing to believe his great service and achievements. They say he was just another "Dollar Swami." How to convince such ignorant offenders of Srila Prabhupada's glories?

Your worthless servant,
Many thanks,
Amar

Answer: You Become Glorious

Srila Prabhupada one time said, “You are always saying, ‘All glories to Srila Prabhupada,’ but why don’t you become glorious?"

The point is that just as a tree is judged by the fruit it produces, people will naturally judge Srila Prabhupada by the caliber of his disciples and grand disciples. So if you want to convince people that Srila Prabhupada is glorious, you must become glorious by fully surrendering unto Lord Sri Krishna. Then you will naturally be able to convince the entire world that Srila Prabhupada is glorious.
