Nothing Is More Delicious Than Krishna Prasadam

Our scriptures say that Krishna consciousness begins from the tongue. What are the two functions of the tongue? Tasting and vibrating. So if you will chant Hare Krishna and taste Krishna prasadam, which is vegetarian foodstuffs offered to Lord Krishna with love and devotion, you will experience a most wonderful reawakening of the pure love of Krishna that has been sleeping in your heart for hundreds and millions of lifetimes. There is nothing sweeter than Krishna's names and nothing more delicious than Krishna prasadam.

The Srila Prabhupada Lilamrita wonderfully describes Srila Prabhupada's glorification of prasadam when he visited the ISKCON temple in Miami, Florida, USA in February 1975:

On the second night Prabhupada lectured again. Each talk was lengthy, and he answered all questions. As the last question on the last evening in Miami, one of the devotees asked, "Srila Prabhupada, if someone takes prasadam even once, is it true that they are guaranteed at least a human body in their next life?"

"Yes," Prabhupada replied. "You go on simply eating, that's all. And all of my devotees, they have come to me simply by eating prasadam." As he said this, Prabhupada was beaming, smiling, looking all around. When his glance fell on Abhirama, the temple president, who sat beside him, Prabhupada said, "You, too, Abhirama?" Abhirama looked sheepish and said, "'Yes, Srila Prabhupada."

Prabhupada made other devotees admit their attraction for krsna-prasadam. "You also?" he asked one after another. "You also?" Everyone admitted, until the audience was thrown into laughter and appreciation of prasadam.

"Yes," Prabhupada continued in good humor. "'So we give all facilities. If you cannot do anything, please come and eat with us. All right, thank you very much."

Just see how wonderfully Srila Prabhupada has glorified prasadam and how important it is for our spiritual lives.

Request: Chant One Round for Me

All Glories to Srila Prabhupada!!
All Glories to Srila Gurudeva!!
My humble obeisance to you.

I would like to gradually reduce my material activities and improve spiritual activities, whereas my family entanglement is not allowing to concentrate on chanting and mediation properly. Please note that my laziness also makes me avoid spiritual activities.

Although once a week I am getting devotee association, still my devotion to Krishna is decreasing day by day. I am really worried about this, and I am running away from my family responsibilities. Kindly enlighten me how to come across this. And kindly chant one round for me to come out from this material activities.

Your servant,
Sukumar S.

Answer: Why Only One Round?

Your responsibility to your family is that you should become Krishna conscious and then you should
make them Krishna conscious also. Do not run away from your family responsibility.

Why only one round? My entire life is dedicated to getting you out of this material existence.

Adopt these guidelines from Srila Rupa Goswami as listed in chapter six of the Nectar of Devotion, and you will experience an awakening of love of God within your heart:

(1) accepting the shelter of the lotus feet of a bona fide spiritual master,

(2) becoming initiated by the spiritual master and learning how to discharge devotional service from him,

(3) obeying the orders of the spiritual master with faith and devotion,

(4) following in the footsteps of great acaryas (teachers) under the direction of the spiritual master,

(5) inquiring from the spiritual master how to advance in Krishna consciousness,

(6) being prepared to give up anything material for the satisfaction of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Śrī Krishna (this means that when we are engaged in the devotional service of Krishna, we must be prepared to give up something which we may not like to give up, and also we have to accept something which we may not like to accept),

(7) residing in a sacred place of pilgrimage like Dvaraka or Vrindavan (this includes making your home as good as Vrindavan by making Krishna the center of your home),

(8) accepting only what is necessary, or dealing with the material world only as far as necessary,

(9) observing the fasting day on Ekadasi and

(10) worshiping sacred trees like the banyan tree (this includes worshiping the sacred tulasi tree).

These ten items are preliminary necessities for beginning the discharge of devotional service in regulative principles. In the beginning, if a neophyte devotee observes the above-mentioned ten principles, sure he will quickly make good advancement in Krishna consciousness.
