When the Mind Erupts Like a Volcano

Even for an aspiring transcendentalist because of material conditioning over many lifetimes sometimes the mind erupts like a volcano profusely spewing out all kinds of mental garbage. At times like these one is advised to ignore the mind and bring one's consciousness back to Krishna. If we indulge the mind in its eruption of madness, we run the risk of completely falling down from the spiritual platform. Therefore in times like these one is advised to discipline the maddened mind and bring it back to meditation on the transcendental name of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. In this way the volcanic mind will cool off, and one will again become peaceful and happy in Krishna consciousness.

Question: Difference Between Spirituality and Religion

If religion means the connection between the Supreme Personality and the spirit soul, then what do we mean by the term spirituality? What is its function and how is it intrinsically related to religion?

How do I select a guru for being initiated when I don't have direct access to him? Although I hear a lot of praise by the devotees who were initiated by a certain guru, I cannot just depend on hearsay belief.

Answer: No Spirituality Unless We Re-link with God in Love

Spirituality means to be situated on the transcendental platform beyond the modes of material nature. And religion means to re-link with God. Unless one has reconnected or re-linked himself with God through loving service there is no question of permanently attaining the position of spirituality. Although the impersonalists attempt to reach this spiritual platform without religion, in the end they are defeated by their unlawful desire to be God.

You mention that you have no direct access to a guru. But this is not true because you are directly accessing me. I appreciate very much how you are an intelligent person who does not depend on hearsay. Now you should fully utilize your intelligence in direct contact with the spiritual master. Analyze his qualifications to be your spiritual master based on your experience of him and the authoritative descriptions in the Vedic scriptures.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee.
