Intense Greed for Krishna Consciousness

When one realizes his precarious position in this material existence and sees that the only means of escape is to awaken his dormant love of God or Krishna consciousness, he naturally wants to do so. And in order to be successful he must have an intense greediness to attain the platform of pure devotional service. Indeed it is this very greed which the is purchase price for obtaining Krishna. This is described very nicely as follows by Srila Rupa Goswami:

kṛṣṇa-bhakti-rasa-bhāvitā matiḥ
krīyatāṁ yadi kuto 'pi labhyate
tatra laulyam api mūlyam ekalaṁ
janma-koṭi-sukṛtair na labhyate

"Pure devotional service in Krishna consciousness cannot be had even by pious activity in hundreds and thousands of lives. It can be attained only by paying one price--that is, intense greed to obtain it. If it is available somewhere, one must purchase it without delay."--Caitanya Caritamrita, Madhya Lila 8.70

So instead of being greedy for material sense gratification, if one he engages his greediness for finding that person who can give him pure devotional service, he will quickly attain the supreme perfection.

Answers According to the Vedic Version:

Question: Why is God Invisible?

Guruji,

I've got a question. Why is God not visible?

Your servant,
Dhaval

Answer: He's Visible, But You Are Blind.

God is fully visible and can thus be seen at every minute. The reason that you are not seeing Him now is that your eyes are presently covered by the clouds of lust, anger, greed, madness, illusion, and envy. So now if you will purify your vision by the cleansing process of devotional service unto that unlimitedly beautiful Supreme Lord, as you gradually become more and more purified, your original, natural healthy state of being able to see God at every minute will be gradually revived.
