Right Makes Might

September 8, 2025

Right

We often hear that might makes right. Just like many Germans thought Hitler was acting rightly by using his power to exterminate six million Jews. But actually, might does not make right. To act rightly one must act in accordance with the laws of God. Only then can it be said that one is acting rightly.

If we analyze things carefully with a cool head, we will see that actually it is the opposite that's true. Right makes might. The truth may be temporarily covered by ignorance. But in the end truth always conquers over ignorance. Therefore, those are intelligent always stick to the truth even though in the minds of the modern day totally misguided civilization it is considered to be ignorance.

Thus, the bottom line is that in the end truth will win out and the whole world will become Krishna conscious. May that day come soon. May that day come soon.

Hare Krishna, Prabhuji
Dandvat pranam

I'm S. (name not given for anonymity). I’m currently preparing for the medical entrance examination. My schedule is very hectic. I try to make time for chanting at least, but Maya Devi pulls me off. It’s been a whole year—my sadhana is at zero. I’m not doing any chanting. My mind has become so impure that it just thinks dirty things, very bad things. I want to change but I’m not able to do it. I really want to be Krishna conscious. I really want to be near Krishna, but I’m just not able to do it.

Even every day I have enough time that I could do at least 4 rounds, but my mind never lets me. I have again become a servant of my mind, just like I was before coming to Krishna consciousness. For the first two years in my Krishna consciousness I was so good. I used to do chanting, hearing, kirtan, and so much seva by the mercy of Srila Prabhupada. But now I’m totally a fool, like a tissue dipped in the water of materialism.

Please guide me, Prabhuji. I don’t want to go further away from Krishna.

My Dear S.,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda.

Beat your rascal mind with shoes in the morning and with a broomstick at night. Listen to Guru and Krishna. Stop listening to your rascal mind.

In this connection Srila Prabhupada has written:

Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura used to say that in the morning our first business should be to beat the mind with shoes a hundred times, and, before going to bed, to beat the mind a hundred times with a broomstick. In this way one's mind can be kept under control. An uncontrolled mind and an unchaste wife are the same. An unchaste wife can kill her husband at any time, and an uncontrolled mind, followed by lust, anger, greed, madness, envy and illusion, can certainly kill the yogī. When the yogī is controlled by the mind, he falls down into the material condition. One should be very careful of the mind, just as a husband should be careful of an unchaste wife.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in a cheerful mood.

Your ever well-wisher,
Sankarshan Das Adhikari

How I Came to Krishna Consciousness

In a world obsessed with money, fame, and fleeting pleasures—leading nowhere but to the grave or the crematorium—I walked away. Life felt so meaningless, I couldn’t stand it. This is the true story of how I turned my back on the American materialistic dream and discovered something far greater: Krishna consciousness. A gripping journey of inner revolution and a call to awaken a world civilization on the edge of collapse.
