Is This Contradictory?

Contradict

Srila Prabhupada gave us the mission to deliver the world, and thus this is our most sacred duty. But he also wrote in a letter to one of his leading disciples as follows:

That's all right, that is our real mission, to deliver the world by preaching Krsna's message to others, but even higher realization, the highest realization, is to save oneself.

So is this contradictory? No. It is not. It is simple logic. A drowning man cannot save a drowning man. So to save others from drowning we must first not be drowning. So our mission remains the same, to deliver the world, and do that we must deliver ourselves.

But what I am still not yet fully freed from all material desires? Should I preach or not? The insider's secret that I will also become delivered from my material desires when I embrace Srila Prabhupada's world deliverance mission as my very life and soul, fully dedicating my life for this most auspicious world deliverance mission.

Please accept my humble obeisances, Śrīla Gurudeva,
All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda.
Hare Krishna,

May I enquire: what is the difference between Jesus saying, “I have taken all of your sins,” and Krishna saying, “I will deliver you from all sinful reactions”?

Yours sincerely,
Shivani

Answer

From: Austin, Texas USA

My Dear Shivani,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda.

Krishna frees His devotees from the reactions to their sins through the medium of the bonafide spiritual master. Thus, there is no difference. Krishna and the spiritual master are our co-deliverers.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in a cheerful mood.

Your ever well-wisher,
Sankarshan Das Adhikari

How I Came to Krishna Consciousness

In a world obsessed with money, fame, and fleeting pleasures—leading nowhere but to the grave or the crematorium—I walked away. Life felt so meaningless, I couldn’t stand it. This is the true story of how I turned my back on the American materialistic dream and discovered something far greater: Krishna consciousness. A gripping journey of inner revolution and a call to awaken a world civilization on the edge of collapse.
