Krishna's Smile is the Ultimate Sweetness

28 February 2025

The great Vaisnava acharya, Bilvamangala Thakur, lived for 700 years in Vrindavan. He became so spiritually perfect that he entered into Krishna's pastimes in the spiritual world even while he maintained his material body in this material world. As a young man who was addicted to illicit sex he blinded himself so that he would no longer be attracted to women and went to Vrindavan. In his blindness he was personally served by Lord Krishna who would bring him milk. His book, Kṛṣṇa-karṇāmṛta, was very much appreciated by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Here is verse 92 from that extraordinary book:

madhuraṁ madhuraṁ vapur asya vibhor
madhuraṁ madhuraṁ vadanaṁ madhuram
madhu-gandhi mṛdu-smitam etad aho
madhuraṁ madhuraṁ madhuraṁ madhuram

"The transcendental body of Kṛṣṇa is very sweet, and His face is sweeter still. But His soft, honey-scented smile is the ultimate sweetness thrill."

Kṛṣṇa-karṇāmṛta (92).

Transcendental Correspondence

Respected Soul,
Hare Krishna
Please accept my respectful obeisance.
I will tell you about myself later on when I will find myself worthy as per your blessings on me. I studied the Introduction of Bhagwat Gita and i have following queries -
1. What is Vedic Knowledge?
2. What is upanisads?
3. There is some lines regarding succession of Bhagwat Gita - the Bhagavad-gītā, was first spoken to the sun-god, and the sun-god explained it to Manu, and Manu explained it to Ikṣvāku, and in that way, by disciplic succession, one speaker after another, this yoga system has been coming down. My question is - It had not been spoken first to Arjuna by Lord Krishna? If yes then who spoken it to Sun-God first?
4. There are three classes of transcendentalists, namely the jñānī, the yogī and the bhakta, or the impersonalist, the meditator and the devotee. - What about Impersonalist & Meditator ? Please define.
5.One may be a devotee as a conjugal lover. Who is Conjugal Lover ?
I just put my queries, you are the great personalities of Spirituality. I don't expect reply but I have a glimpse of hope that i am before write person!

Thank You
I am Soul and bodily name is Adarsh.

Answer

From: Mumbai, India

My Dear Adarsh,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Vedic knowledge is the knowledge by Lord Sri Krishna and His pure devotees in books like the Bhagavad-gita and the four Vedas: Sāma, Ṛg, Atharva and Yajur. The four Vedas are further explained by the Purāṇas, of which there are eighteen. These are still further explained by the Upaniṣads, of which there are 108.

Lord Kṛṣṇa first spoke Bhagavad-gītā to the sun-god
some hundreds of millions of years ago.

The impersonalists are those who think that God has no form and no personality. The yogīs (meditators) are those who take to the process of aṣṭāṅga-yoga for developing mystic powers.

Conjugal love means like the love between a boyfriend and a girlfriend.

I hope this meets you in the best of health.
Your ever well-wisher,

Sankarshan Das Adhikari

My Spiritual Journey in a Nutshell

As an American youth I was taught to believe in the. "American dream": Study hard, get a good education and a good job to get a good wife some good kids in a good house to enjoy a good life. But when I got to college I realized that this was not enough. I wanted to know what is the meaning of life, but no one could tell me. So I took to the path of self-realization and was blessed in 1968 with the Hare Krishna mantra and the worship of Radha and Krishna. (I did not know about ISKCON.) This inspired me to drop out of college and renounce the world to become a holy beggar in India. But on the way to India I realized that to renounce everything I had to ultimately renounce renunciation itself and accept something transcendental Thus I embraced the mission of delivering the world from chaos. For this purpose I adopted the life a singer/songwriter who in 1969 became recognized and very much appreciated. In 1971, seeking spiritual perfection, I followed the example of Lord Jesus Christ and prayed to God how I could become His perfect servant. Then God revealed to me path of pure Krishna bhakti as taught by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami. On the most auspicious day of 12 August 1971 he accepted me as his disciple. Now on his order and under his most expert guidance I have fully devoted my life for awakening pure love of God within my heart and for making the entire world Krishna conscious.
