Is Love of Krishna Automatic?

Sometimes we are asked if love of Krishna is automatic. The answer is "yes and no." In our present stage of still being addicted to material sense gratification it is not automatic. It just like a young child who has been happily playing at home for many years is now told that he has to start going to school. He does not want to go. So he is forced to go. But after some time of going under force he develops a taste for going to school and like to go to school. Similarly, after some time of engaging in devotional service according to rules and regulations after some time it becomes natural, automatic devotional service.

Can we love Krishna without efforts?

Answer

In the beginning effort is required (sadhana bhakti) because due to our association with the materialistic civilization for many lifetimes we are very much addicted to material sense gratification. However, gradually by making the effort to engage in devotional service to Krishna our natural taste for serving Krishna, which is currently buried deep within our hearts, will be awakened. At that this point we will spontaneously, automatically engage ourselves in loving, devotional service to our beloved Lord Sri Krishna.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
