Meat is Murder

When we eat the flesh of animals who have not died naturally we are participating in their murder. The karma for doing this is that in our next lives we will become such animals as we are eating and we will become murdered and eaten just as we have eaten those animals. There is no need for us to have to go through all of this hell. God has given us fruits, grains, vegetables and dairy products that we can offer to Him with love and devotion before eating them. By eating in this we become free from all sin and our eating will help us achieve spiritual perfection. Otherwise our eating will take us down to the animal kingdom in our next births. In this connection it is sometimes said, "You are what you eat."

Question: Where Do We Go When the Body Dies?

Dear Srila Gurudeva,
Please accept my obeisances.

I really appreciate your mails to me. It's helping my spiritual unfolding. Please, there is a question that I am yet to get a convincing answer. Where do we go when this body dies? I had read from a book that in every aspect of this universe there is a phenomenal recycling process. How can you relate this question to this theory?

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments.
