The Day I Was Ecstatically Awakened by the Moon
One of the names of Lord Caitanya is "Gauracandra," which means "golden moon." Just as the moon rays are so pleasing and soothing, the soothing rays of Lord Caitanya's brilliant mercy are going to dissipate the blinding ignorance of the age of Kali and bring a most sublime, divine spiritual renaissance to our devastatingly troubled world. So I was ecstatically astounded when at 1:30am on 29 June 2018 just after having completed an around-the-world bliss of bhakti tour I was awakened by the brilliant soothing rays of a full moon shining in my face. There was no way I was going to go back to sleep again! I picked up my japa beads and chanted 18 rounds of the supreme mantra: Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare / Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. May that brilliant soothing moon of Lord Caitanya's mercy now awaken the entire world to the super ecstatic life of devotion to Lord Sri Krishna.

I’m a family man with one child of 3 and half years old. I chant 16 rounds and try to follow 4 regulative principles.
I have two questions.
1. Could you suggest me how to rise my child as a devotee? How should as a parents we behave in front of our child?
2. We are also planning for a second child. We are strictly avoiding illicit sex. To get a Krishna conscious child, as a couple, what should we do before we unite?

I am most pleased to learn of your sincere desire to raise your child as a devotee. The way to accomplish this is that you and your wife must set the ideal example of chanting at least 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna mahamantra everyday on japa mala beads along with strictly avoiding illicit sex, meat eating, intoxication, and gambling. Both you and your wife should also take initiation from the bona fide spiritual master. In your home you must rise early every morning and engage the entire family in celebrating mangala arati and worshipping the sacred tulasi plant. Or whenever possible you should go to your nearest ISKCON temple and celebrate the full morning program. In your home there should be regular reading from Srila Prabhupada’s books in which the whole family participates. You should have a full set of Srila Prabhupada’s books in your home. If practical, when your child is of school age, he should be sent for education in one of ISKCON’s gurukulas. The husband and wife should always avoid fighting by always working together co-operatively for the pleasure of Guru and Krishna.
Srila Prabhupada’s instruction for the proper utilization of sex is that the couple should practice complete celibacy with the exception that if they want a child, once in a month 4 to 6 days after the wife’s menstrual cycle the husband and wife should both chant at least 50 rounds of Hare Krishna japa mala, and then they may have sexual intercourse for trying to have a child. Such spiritual sex life will attract the highest calibre spiritually inclined child to take birth in your wife's womb.
