Todays Thought for the Day is the lecture I gave in Burndap Park in Maribyrnong, Australia on 30 December 2017 just before we left the Melbourne, Australia area to fly to Sydney, Australia for another lecture series. It was a very wonderful and inspiring gathering of devotees.

Why Torture Yourself?

Question: Accept Everything or Fight?

Am I wrong thinking that God consciousness may differ from Krishna consciousness according to the "final destination" of the chosen path?

Are there any situations or circumstances when we should "fight against" our karma (for example in the face of violence) or we should rather humbly accept all that comes in our way? How should we act ?

Sincerely,
Lakshmipriya devi dasi

Answer: We Fight Against Evil

Since Krishna is God, God consciousness and Krishna consciousness is the same. Even Christ consciousness is the same thing as confirmed as follows by Srila Prabhupada in a conversation with Ms. Nixon:

Ms. Nixon: What is the difference between Krishna consciousness and Christ consciousness?
Srila Prabhupada: Christ consciousness is also Krishna consciousness, but because at present people do not follow the rules and regulations of Christianity -- the commandments of Jesus Christ -- they do not come to the standard of God consciousness.

If someone comes to rob us or kill us, we can fight. One time when I was a devotee in our Miami, USA temple some armed robbers came to steal the temple’s money. Instead of humbly co-operating with them I loudly yelled Lord Nrsimhadeva’s name and after that their plans were foiled. They were not able to rob us.

In the Bhagavad-gita, Krishna did not want the Duryodhana to rule the world. He wanted Yudhisthira and his brothers to rule the world. Therefore he ordered Arjuna to fight. In a similar way we are fighting now against the godlessness in this world by. preaching the message of Krishna vigorously in an attempt to lead the entire world out of chaos.
