Which Side Should I Take

This material world is a world of conflict and party spirit. There will always be different groups of people vying for supremacy over the other groups. They justify their pursuit of power by propagating that they are right and the other party is wrong, that their party is more morally righteous than the other party, that God is on their side, not on the side of the other party. This party spirit arises from one's false identification with his material body. Politicians take advantage of this tendency and catapult themselves into power by fanning the fire of party spirit within the hearts of the people. Therefore those who are thoughtful do not allow themselves to be carried way by the party spirit, which perennially ravages this material world wreaking havoc on the peace and prosperity of the people. It is the selfishness of the politicians that they pit one group against another people even to the point where so many people are killed, just so they can continue enjoying a temporary position of political power in this world. If we are smart, we will not allow ourselves to become pawns in the hands of the politicians. Instead of taking sides in the political arena, we will instead stay completely away from this party spirit keeping ourselves always on the spiritual platform by constantly remembering that our real identity is that I am the eternal servant of Krishna. Instead of identifying with this or that party here in this material world, we will identify with our actual party, the party of Krishna. This is the side that we will take because it is our eternal constitutional position.

Question: How Krishna Consciousness Is Authoritative?

Please accept my humble obeisances.

I was talking with my school friends that all we follow in ISKCON is based on scriptures. One of my friends asked, "How do you believe what you are following is authoritative? How do you believe that the knowledge you are getting is pure, and how can you say that the scriptures you are following are authoritative?" I was not able to answer his questions. How do I answer him?

Truth works. We know that this knowledge and process is genuine because it liberates us from the cycle of birth and death taking us back into our original liberated identity that we had in the spiritual sky before we fell into this material existence.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments.
