Serve the Vaisnavas with Love

The more that one becomes absorbed in serving the Vaisnavas, the more he makes advancement in Krishna consciousness. A devotee who does not serve Vaisnavas is called a kanistha adhikari or a materialistic devotee. Loving and serving Vaisnavas is the quickest and easiest way to make advancement on the golden road of unlimited devotion.

Question: Why Not Gay Marriage?

Dear Gurudeva,

Please accept my humble obeisances.

Another question I have is about gay marriage. One of the struggles I have with most major religions is that they teach that gay people are demonic. I know many gay people and they are people just like us. Many of them hurt a great deal by the oppression and discrimination they face in society. I understand that any illicit sex is wrong, but does this not also apply to a heterosexual couple not trying to have children? Why should we limit marriage to straight couples? God makes all creatures, so he makes gay people too. I can understand preaching against illicit sex, but I don't understand why we preach against gay marriage. In this case we should also preach against heterosexual marriage for couples who are incapable of having children.

Answer: It Encourages Illicit Sex

In this material world we are all demoniac because we have all come here due to our rebellion against the supremacy of the Lord. In spite of that because the spark of divinity is there in all living beings everyone should be honored and respected. Therefore our Vaisnava philosophy is that even the little ant must be respected, what to speak of the human beings. By nature's way sex is only for procreation. Therefore both forms of non-procreational sex are wrong: heterosexual and homosexual. We have no objection if two men or two women want their spend their lives together as intimate associates, but because gay marriage encourages illicit sex, therefore it is not good and should not be allowed. Can you show me an example of a celibate gay married couple?

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee.
