Sankirtana Bliss in Austin

On Saturday 1 December 2012 devotees from ISKCON Austin took the holy names and holy books of Srila Prabhupada out to the Austin public. They set up a book display rack and sang Hare Krishna kirtan at the downtown Austin famer's market. Their kirtan attracted the people to come and see the display of Srila Prabhupada's beautifully books displayed in a very first class way. And then the devotees would convince them to take a book give a donation. Many books were distributed. There is no greater bliss than giving Krishna consciousness to others because the more you give Krishna, the more you get Krishna.

Question: How to Attain Equanimity?

Dear Gurudeva,
Namaste.

I would like to ask the following questions:

Why does our mind get caught between the dichotomy of dualities? Why do we hear throughout our lives conflicting conclusions and adhere to false conceptions? How to make the mind steadfast when one has little or no knowledge of the ultimate truth? How to achieve state of equanimity?

Answer: See All Through the Eyes of Bhagavad-gita

By forgetting that we are eternal spirit-souls, servants of Lord Krishna we are immediately plunged into the ocean of dualities. This material world is a place of conflicting viewpoints. This is so because everyone here considers themselves to be the Lord of all they survey. If many rocks are thrown into a pond, the waves generated by each rock will naturally conflict and collide with each other. But if all the rocks are thrown into the same place, there will be no conflicting waves.

The way to make the mind steadfast, to bring it to a state of equanimity, is to see that Krishna is the supreme enjoyer, the owner of everything, and the best friend of all living beings. Krishna declares in the Bhagavad-gita that only a person who sees in this way can attain true peace.
