Paralysis or Invigoration: Your Choice

Forgetting Krishna is paralysis, just like a fish is paralyzed when he is removed from the water. And remembering Krishna is total invigoration, just like a fish is completely energized and invigorated when he regains his natural position of being in the water. In this connection we find the most wonderful verse in the Caitanya Caritamrita in which Srimati Radharani states:

mana mora vāma-dīna, jala vinā yena mīna,
kṛṣṇa vinā kṣaṇe mari’ yāya
madhura-hāsya-vadane, mana-netra-rasāyane,
kṛṣṇa-tṛṣṇā dviguṇa bāḍāya

“If I do not think of Krishna, My impoverished mind will die within a moment like a fish out of water. But when I see Krishna’s sweetly smiling face, My mind and eyes are so pleased that My desire for Him redoubles.”
--Sri Caitanya Caritamrita Antya 17.59

The conclusion is that those who are fortunate and intelligent will always engage their minds in remembering Krishna even during the course of their ordinary daily activities and will thus constantly be energized and invigorated by relishing the sweetest nectar.

I 've been studying the effects that chanting Hare Krishna has on the brain for the last 41 years. And I can report from my research that the effects are strikingly wonderful.
