After a very productive two months stopover here at Bhaktivedanta Ashram in Austin, Texas USA, we are getting ready now to embark on another auspicious around-the-world lecture tour.

Question: Is the Material Nature Conscious?

My Dearest Srila Gurudeva,
Please accept my prayers.

In the introduction portion of the Bhagavad-gita, Srila Prabhupada has indicated that material nature is not conscious. Then why is material nature indicated as female? How does she work under the direction of the Lord if she is not conscious?

Answer: No, But It's Superintendent Is.

The material nature is a prison, but there is also a warden of that prison. Matter is inanimate just like the bricks and bars of the prison are inanimate. But Maya devi, the superintendant of the prison, is fully cognizant and is giving the prisoners what they deserve according to their karma. So, the material nature is not conscious, while its superintendent is.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
