Don't Be Captured by Maya
13 January 2025
Just as the government captures and imprisons those who choose not to follow the laws of the state Krishna's material energy, maya, is their to capture and imprison those who want to try to enjoy separately from Him. In this regard Srila Prabhupada writes as follows in his purport to Srimad Bhagavatam Third Canto, Chapter 25, Text 10:"As soon as the living entity forgets his real, constitutional position of eternal servitorship to the Lord and wants instead to enjoy himself by sense gratification, he is captured by maya. This capture by maya is the consciousness of false identification with the body and attachment for the possessions of the body. These are the activities of maya, and since maya is also an agent of the Lord, it is indirectly the action of the Lord. The Lord is merciful; if anyone wants to forget Him and enjoy this material world, He gives him full facility, not directly but through the agency of His material potency. Therefore, since the material potency is the Lord's energy, indirectly it is the Lord who gives the facility to forget Him."
So now, my dear readers, the choice is up to you. Do you want to voluntarily to serve Krishna with love as one of HIs associates in the all-blissful spiritual world? Or do you want to be dragged down to forcibly serve this material nature like a prisoner who is forced to smash rocks?

Hare Krishna Srila Gurudev,Please accept this little. servant's humble obeisances. All glories to you and Srila Prabhupada.
Gurudev, I am a 14 year old boy, and maybe that's why I cannot understand this but, my question is, The one who is thinking (about anything), is the brain? Or the soul?
For example, if a person presses keyboard keys, the virtual chatacter in a game does the specific functions like jumping, walking, running, etc. We can think that the body is the virtual character, brain is the keyboard and soul is the user.
Therefore it means that the soul thinks, and instructs the body to perform some activities through the brain as a medium. Which leads to the conclusion that the soul thinks. But if the soul thinks, then the overthinking, anxiety, everything, (even the inner-voice of mine), is of the soul?
But if that would've been the case then how can we say the soul is unaffected by the overthinking, because its me (the soul), who is thinking about material things and all those anxiety, fear and all those things.
Therefore it means that these things are produced by my material brain. But then it means the inner voice, belongs to the brain?
To tell very clearly, My question is that who thinks, (about anything and everything)? Is it the brain? Or is it the soul? The inner voice that I hear when I say something in my mind, is that of the soul? or is it the brain thinking?
Please do clear this doubt from your little servant who is trying to lead a Gita way of life.
Hare Krishna! 🙏🙏

Answer
My Dear Shinjan,
Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
The one who is thinking is the soul. The brain is a tool that the soul is using. It is something like the driver of the car is the actual driver and the steering wheel is a tool that he uses to drive the car.
When eternal soul misidentifies with the temporary body he
feels anxiety. This is his foolishness.
I hope this meets you in the best of health.
Your ever well-wisher,
