We Will Change the World

While traveling with his disciples from Allahabad to Calcutta in January 1977 Srila Prabhupada told them, "History will mark this period, how the Krishna consciousness movement changed the world." So what an inconceivably great legacy gift Srila Prabhupada has bestowed upon us. Those who faithfully follow the orders of Srila Prabhupada will indeed, by his mercy and Krishna's mercy, change the world. So now let's do it.

Question: How to Measure Growth in Spiritual Life?

Hare Krishna!!

Dear Sankarshan Prabhu,

This is Chitta from Copenhagen, Denmark. Today, I was reading the Bhagavad-gita and one question came to mind which I could not find a satisfactory answer. So I thought to share with you. Below is the brief description:

Nowadays people strive for the growth in professional life (material life) however they forget to put same effort to ensure growth in spiritual life. My question is how to measure the growth in the spiritual life? To me growth in professional life is tangible. But to measure the growth in spiritual life what are the parameters one must look for? Most importantly, Bhagavad-gita says that if a person ensures growth in spiritual life then he/she will get a better life in next cycle as a reward. So, how a person can verify this as we the human beings do not have any clue about their past life or future life?

Kind Regards
Chitta

Answer: Here Are the Steps of Progress

There are steps on the pathway of spiritual awakening by which one can gauge his spiritual progress:

1. Having faith in the process
2. Associating with devotees
3. Taking shelter and initiation from the bona fide spiritual master
4. Cleansing of the heart by full obedience to the spiritual master
5. Becoming solidly fixed in undeviating Krishna consciousness in all circumstances
6. Experiencing unlimited taste in Krishna’s name
7. Achieving absolute purity of consciousness
