Don't Cheat Yourself

You are an eternal spiritual being qualitatively one with the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Therefore just as the Supreme Personality is eternal, full of bliss, and full of knowledge, you are also eternal, full of bliss, and full of knowledge. Therefore you should not cheat yourself by focusing your life's energy on gratifying the senses of the temporary material covering that you are wearing, namely, your material body. Rather you should intelligently focus your energies on reviving your Krishna consciousness, your original state of pure, enlightened consciousness as a servant of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Sri Krishna.

Question: Is Hare Krishna a Religion?

Is Hare Krishna a religion?

Question asked in a lecture in Melbourne

Answer: No. It is the Perfection of Religion.

Hare Krishna or Krishna consciousness is not a religion. There are so many religions in the world. Hare Krishna is not one of them. The actual position of Hare Krishna is that it is religion itself in its original pure form before religion was subdivided into this religion or that religion. Religion means that which ties, binds, or connects us with God. Therefore, the term religion does not denote a particular sect of religion, which is actually by its very nature non-sectarian. The science of Krishna consciousness can be applied in one's own religion of choice. In other words by following the teachings of the Gita one will become a perfect Christian, a perfect Muslim, a perfect Hindu, or a perfect Jew, etc. One will become perfect no matter which way he chooses to approach God. In other words, Hare Krishna is the perfection of religion.
