Question: Are Cows Superior to Human Beings?

As we transmigrate from one body to another, does a spirit soul get a cow's body ? If yes, wouldn't that be superior to the human form since the cow is considered in the Vedic wisdom as one of the seven mothers?

Answer: Human Life is the Highest Form

Yes, the cow body is one of the forms that we take when we are transmigrating in the cycle of birth and death. The cow is one of our seven mothers because we drink her breast milk after we no longer suck our mother’s breast. This, however, does mean that the form of a cow is a higher form of life than that of human being. While the human being has sufficient intelligence to inquire about what is the ultimate purpose of existence, the cow has only sufficient intelligence to inquire where is there grass to eat. Therefore the human form of life is a more highly evolved life form. The human being can choose to rise above his animal instincts by surrendering to Krishna and thus become fully qualified to go to home, back to Godhead upon leaving his present material body. The cow does not have intelligence to do this and thus remains caught up in the cycle of birth and death.
