It is sometimes said that charity begins at home. So why torture yourself by misidentifying yourself with a temporary bag of blood and bones? Why not be kind to yourself by understanding and being who you really are, the eternal spiritual being, who is full of knowledge and full of bliss, and is qualitatively one with God? This is real intelligence. This is what one learns when he associates with self-realized souls. And this is what one joyfully and compassionately shares with the suffering people of this world when he becomes spiritually awakened.

At times I feel that I am being exploited by God. Please help me.

Answer: We are the Exploiters, Not God.

If one violates the laws of the state, he must suffer as an inmate in the prison. Similarly, if we violate the laws of God, it is natural that we will be punished. We will feel the pinches of God's stringent material nature. However, if we become obedient servants of the Lord as our loving Father, He will always bestow His unlimited kindness upon us. If we feel exploited, it is because we are not living in harmony with His will. So the solution when you feel exploited is to harmonize yourself with the instructions of the Lord. In this way you will realize that the Lord is not an exploiter. It is rather we who have become the exploiters of His energy by not living in harmony with His sublime instructions as revealed to us in the Bhagavad-gita..

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments.
