The Amazing Intimacy of Krishna's Friends in Vrindavan

In The Nectar of Devotion we read the following about the amazing intimacy between Krishna and His friends:

The vayasyas (friends) in Vrndavana are in such intimate friendship with Krsna that sometimes they think themselves as good as Krsna. Here is an instance of such friendly feeling: When Krsna was holding up Govardhana Hill with His left hand, the vayasyas said, "Dear friend, You have been standing for the last seven days and nights without any rest. This is very troublesome for us, because we see that You have undertaken a severely laborious task. We think, therefore, that You need not continue to stand in that way holding the hill. You can just transfer it onto Sudama's hand. We are very much aggrieved to see You in this position. If you think that Sudama is not able to support Govardhana Hill, then at least You should change hands. Instead of supporting it with Your left hand, please transfer it to Your right hand, so that we can give Your left hand a massage." This is an instance of intimacy, showing how much the vayasyas (friends) considered themselves to be equal to Krsna.

Can you image how many heaps of pious activities those boys must have done in order to be promoted to personally associate with the Supreme Personality of Godhead? Think about this the next time you chant your rounds.

A great technique for office preaching is to always have a Bhagavad-gita on your desk. This helps you remember Krishna. And when the other workers express an interest you can give them a copy and ask them to give a donation of love to help cover the printing cost.

Plus always bring prasadam sweets that the workers can take whenever they like.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me.
