One of the Most Thrilling Moments of My Entire Life
October 17, 2025
One of the most thrilling moments of my life was yesterday, on 16 October 2025, to visit the temple of Adi-Kesava in South India. Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu visited this temple in 1510 AD during His South India tour. It was here that He discovered the 5th Chapter of the Brahma-saṁhitā, which, is said to contain a hundred chapters. This scripture is so old and so sacred it was practically lost to the general population at the time. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu understood the supreme importance of this scripture and therefore He rediscovered it in the Sri Adi Kesava Temple. This pastime is described in texts 234 through 240 in the Sri Caitanya Caritamrita, Madhya Lila, Chapter 9:
That very night, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu and His assistant Kṛṣṇadāsa arrived at the bank of the Payasvinī River. They took their bath and then went to see the temple of Ādi-keśava. When the Lord saw the Ādi-keśava temple, He was immediately overwhelmed with ecstasy. Offering various obeisances and prayers, He chanted and danced.
All the people there were greatly astonished to see the ecstatic pastimes of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. They all received the Lord very well. In the temple of Ādi-keśava, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu discussed spiritual matters among highly advanced devotees. While there, He found a chapter of the Brahma-saṁhitā. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu was greatly happy to find a chapter of that scripture, and symptoms of ecstatic transformation—trembling, tears, perspiration, trance and jubilation—were manifest in His body. There is no scripture equal to the Brahma-saṁhitā as far as the final spiritual conclusion is concerned. Indeed, that scripture is the supreme revelation of the glories of Lord Govinda, for it reveals the topmost knowledge about Him. Since all conclusions are briefly presented in the Brahma-saṁhitā, it is essential among all the Vaiṣṇava literatures.
PURPORT to texts 230-240
The Brahma-saṁhitā is a very important scripture. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu acquired the Fifth Chapter from the Ādi-keśava temple. In that Fifth Chapter, the philosophical conclusion of acintya-bhedābheda-tattva (simultaneous oneness and difference) is presented. The chapter also presents methods of devotional service, the eighteen-syllable Vedic hymn, discourses on the soul, the Supersoul and fruitive activity, an explanation of Kāma-gāyatrī, kāma-bīja and the original Mahā-Viṣṇu, and a detailed description of the spiritual world, specifically Goloka Vṛndāvana. The Brahma-saṁhitā also explains the demigod Gaṇeśa, Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu, the origin of the Gāyatrī mantra, the form of Govinda and His transcendental position and abode, the living entities, the highest goal, the goddess Durgā, the meaning of austerity, the five gross elements, love of Godhead, impersonal Brahman, the initiation of Lord Brahmā, and the vision of transcendental love enabling one to see the Lord. The steps of devotional service are also explained. The mind, yoga-nidrā, the goddess of fortune, devotional service in spontaneous ecstasy, incarnations beginning with Lord Rāmacandra, Deities, the conditioned soul and its duties, the truth about Lord Viṣṇu, prayers, Vedic hymns, Lord Śiva, the Vedic literature, personalism and impersonalism, good behavior, and many other subjects are also discussed. There is also a description of the sun and the universal form of the Lord. All these subjects are conclusively explained in a nutshell in the Brahma-saṁhitā.
It is in this fifth chapter the we find the famous Govinda prayers that On his recording of the Govinda prayers Srila Prabhupada instructed:
The audience, the hearers of this record are requested to study and try to enter into the spirit of this hymn with great care and attention as a regular daily function.
In great ecstasy we chanted the Govinda prayers at this temple, one of the holiest places in the entire universe.

Answer
My Dear Gaurav,
Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda.
The Māyāvādīs (impersonalists) claim that all existence is God and that God is a single homogeneous substance without form or personality. They teach that spiritual perfection means to once again become God—as you supposedly were before you “fell down”—by giving up your individuality and merging back into that undifferentiated oneness. In their view, you were God but you forgot it, and now you must become God again divinity by dissolving yourself into the Oneness.
Voidism is very similar. The voidists say that everything is zero—that nothing actually exists and that all is void. They believe it is an illusion to think that anything exists at all. For them, spiritual perfection means to merge into the void and become nothing once again.
These rascal Mayavadis can easily be defeated. If you were originally God, Who is all-powerful, how could you ever be overpowered by illusion to not be God. This would mean that illusion if more powerful than God.
And the Voidists are also easy to defeat. If nothing exists their philosophy does not exist.
So joyfully accept whatever opportunity you get to defeat these bogus philosophies. The more we defeat them, the more our movement is moving forward.
Every day we pray to our beloved Srila Prabhupada in this way:

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in a cheerful mood.

How I Came to Krishna Consciousness
In a world obsessed with money, fame, and fleeting pleasures—leading nowhere but to the grave or the crematorium—I walked away. Life felt so meaningless, I couldn’t stand it. This is the true story of how I turned my back on the American materialistic dream and discovered something far greater: Krishna consciousness. A gripping journey of inner revolution and a call to awaken a world civilization on the edge of collapse.Read My Memoir You'll Love It!
