How to Have Overcome Conflicts with Devotees

October 5, 2025

Conflicts
Here are the four steps for overcoming conflicts with devotees:

First: When there is a conflict, first look at your own fault and think, “What can I do to improve? What did I do that was improper? What did I do that was not understood?” First examine the sphere of your own fault.
Second: Think of the person you have the greatest affection or love for, and try to have that same mentality towards everyone. Extending the feeling in this way will make all relationships very strong with love.
Third: Look at whomever you associate with in the spirit that the success or failure of your devotional life depends on how you treat that person. Every interaction should be of a certain quality.
Fourth: The people you live with will most likely be the people you will associate with when you leave your body. Your consciousness at the time of death is of the utmost importance. That’s why you should take very seriously how you associate with all ISKCON devotees. We have the responsibility to each other to create the right atmosphere for each of us when we leave our bodies at the time of death.

Hare Krishna Guru Maharaj,
Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Can you please tell how to chant suddha naam .... Pure holy name? As there are 3 stages of chanting the holy names, how to chant them in the purest form?

Gaurav

Answer

From: Mauritius

My Dear Gaurav,
Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda.

For pure chanting, Suddha nam, one simply has to avoid the ten offenses as listed in The Nectar of Devotion:

The offenses against the chanting of the holy name are as follows: (1) To blaspheme the devotees who have dedicated their lives for propagating the holy name of the Lord. (2) To consider the names of demigods like Lord Śiva or Lord Brahmā to be equal to, or independent of, the name of Lord Viṣṇu. (Sometimes the atheistic class of men take it that any demigod is as good as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Viṣṇu. But one who is a devotee knows that no demigod, however great he may be, is independently as good as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Therefore, if someone thinks that he can chant "Kālī, Kālī!" or "Durgā, Durgā!"and it is the same as Hare Kṛṣṇa, that is the greatest offense.) (3) To disobey the orders of the spiritual master. (4) To blaspheme the Vedic literature or literature in pursuance of the Vedic version. (5) To consider the glories of chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa to be imaginations. (6) To give some interpretation on the holy name of the Lord. (7) To commit sinful activities on the strength of the holy name of the Lord. (It should not be taken that because by chanting the holy name of the Lord one can be freed from all kinds of sinful reaction, one may continue to act sinfully and after that chant Hare Kṛṣṇa to neutralize his sins. Such a dangerous mentality is very offensive and shou ld be avoided.) (8) To consider the chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa one of the auspicious ritualistic activities offered in the Vedas as fruitive activities (karma-kāṇḍa). (9) To instruct a faithless person about the glories of the holy name. (Anyone can take part in chanting the holy name of the Lord, but in the beginning one should not be instructed about the transcendental potency of the Lord. Those who are too sinful cannot appreciate the transcendental glories of the Lord, and therefore it is better not to instruct them in this matter.) (10) To not have complete faith in the chanting of the holy names and to maintain material attachments, even after understanding so many instructions on this matter.
Every devotee who claims to be a Vaiṣṇava must guard against these offenses in order to quickly achieve the desired success.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in a cheerful mood.

Your ever well-wisher,
Sankarshan Das Adhikari

How I Came to Krishna Consciousness

In a world obsessed with money, fame, and fleeting pleasures—leading nowhere but to the grave or the crematorium—I walked away. Life felt so meaningless, I couldn’t stand it. This is the true story of how I turned my back on the American materialistic dream and discovered something far greater: Krishna consciousness. A gripping journey of inner revolution and a call to awaken a world civilization on the edge of collapse.
