Remembering My Dear Father
30 June 2025
My father, Lorren Bridge, was in many ways a wonderful person. On one occasion, he rode nearly ten miles on a bicycle to hear a lecture by a visiting sannyasi at our ISKCON temple in Houston, Texas. He very much appreciated that lecture and told me so.On another occasion, he invited Guru Mataji and me to his home and gathered many of his friends to meet with us. During that gathering, he spoke very appreciatively about the Krishna consciousness movement openly glorifying it.
In his old age, when he had become invalid, he was staying in a care home in our town of residence, Austin, Texas. One day we received an urgent phone call from the care home informing us that he was about to die. Guru Mataji and I immediately drove there.
When we entered the room, his face was full of anxiety. But as soon as we began chanting Hare Krishna kirtan, his face immediately became peaceful, and he left his body while hearing the holy names.
Thus, I have full faith that I will meet him again in Krishnaloka when I return there one day. I now humbly beg for his blessings that my preaching mission—to deliver the suffering souls of this material world back to home, back to Godhead—may be successful.

P.S. He also expressed detachment from his aging material body. When he began going bald, he enthusiastically said, “Let her all go!”

How does the sound Hare Krishna contain OM?Adrienne Wingfield
Answer
From: Austin, Texas USAMy Dear Adrienne,
Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda.
Since everything that exists is present within Krishna, the syllable “om” is also included. It should also be noted that chanting the Hare Krishna mantra even once—Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare / Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare—carries more spiritual potency than chanting the syllable “om” millions or even billions of times.*
I hope this meets you in the best of health and in a cheerful mood.
Your ever well-wisher,
Sankarshan Das Adhikari
