When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going

There is a popular saying, "When the going gets tough, the tough gets going." When applied to the practice of Krishna consciousness what does this mean?

At the present moment the going has gotten very tough. We are prisoners of the material energy being forced by our material desires to transmigrate through the 8,400,000 different species of life gain and again and again. But there is some light at the end of the tunnel. There is a way to become tough, to become strong and thus free ourselves from the clutches of maya. Actually, It is not our strength. We become tough or strong when we take the shelter of the supreme tough, the supreme strong, Lord Sri Krishna Who instructs us as follows in Bhagavad-gita, Chapter 7, Verse 14:

daivī hy eṣā guṇa-mayī
mama māyā duratyayā
mām eva ye prapadyante
māyām etāṁ taranti te

"This divine energy of Mine, consisting of the three modes of material nature, is difficult to overcome. But those who have surrendered unto Me can easily cross beyond it."

Why are Hare Krishnas not very prevalent these days?

My dear Micheal,

Please accept my blessings.

Back in the 60’s and early 70’s when thousands of hippies in the US and Europe flocked to the Hare Krishna movement and were chanting and dancing every day on the streets of all major cities the Hare Krishnas become an instant news sensation and were very prevalent in the media. Gradually all those young people got married and had to get jobs to support their new families. So in one sense they merged into the general society. However, in spite of losing media prevalence they maintained their Krishna consciousness.

Over the last 40 years the movement has now attracted millions of people all over the world who are of Indian origin to join its ranks. Thus the movement has become much bigger now all over the world than it was even in its days of media prevalence.

Right now the Hare Krishna movement is poised for a new soon-to-come era of universal global prominence. As the global material society becomes more and more disintegrated, breaking down into ever-increasing chaos as we are seeing it happening now, there will soon come a time when the entire world will look to the Hare Krishna movement as the only solution for bringing true peace, happiness, and harmony to our troubled planet.

At this time Krishna consciousness will become accepted all over the world as the new world religion and the whole world will be blessed with the greatest era of peace, happiness, and prosperity that the planet has known for thousands of years.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
