Our Water Supply Depends on Chanting Hare Krishna

At the present time the rice farmers in Texas are in a critical situation. They are lacking sufficent water to grow their rice crops. In this connect Lord Sri Krishna states in the Bhagavad-gita, Chapter 3, Text 14:

annād bhavanti bhūtāni
parjanyād anna-sambhavaḥ
yajñād bhavati parjanyo
yajñaḥ karma-samudbhavaḥ

"All living bodies subsist on food grains, which are produced from rains. Rains are produced by performance of yajña [sacrifice], and yajña is born of prescribed duties."

Because they are not performing the yajña of chanting the Holy Names of God they are not getting suficient rainfall. And this situation will get worse and worse until they agree to perform the sankirtana yajña.

So we hope that day will comes soon when the government leaders realize that it is their duty to take the loving guidance of Lord Krishna's devotee on how to run their countries.

Question: Should I Have a Guru?

Hare Krishna
All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Pranam Shrila Guru Maharaja.

Humble obeisance at your lotus feet.

Is this ienough to chant Krishna Mahamantra daily at home alone without attaching with a Guru or I should be attached with Guru to take proper teaching ? And whether it is time to give up all material work just to think of Krishna and only consciousness to Krishna? Or I should do our responsibility as a relative or as a family member? Or I should be a social servant?

Can’t understand what should actually I do. A puzzled, frustrated and scared mind is rounding again and again. And please tell me what is success, till now whenever I am trying to do properly any material or devotional work, most of the time and it is good to say every time, I got unsuccessful. I couldn’t understand till now why I am living. Whether it is not my time to die yet or I have to live to get punishment for my sin. Please enlighten me.

Answer: Krishna Says to Accept a Guru

From: Austin, Texas USA

My Dear Biswanath,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Chanting Hare Krishna means that we are begging Lord Sri Krishna to engage us in devotion service. This means that we begging Him to engage us in following His instructions in the Bhagavad-gita, one of which is to accept a spiritual master.

For your maintenance and the maintenance of your family you can engage in material occupation. But the money you earn must be spent in way that is in accordance with the teachings of the
Bhagavad-gita. It cannot be spent for material sense gratification.

You should fully surrender to a bona fide spiritual master and follow his instructions on how you should live your life.

I hope this meets you in the best of health.
Your ever well-wisher,
