Most Wonderful Song by Narottama Das Thakur

Here's wonderful song by Narottama Das Thakur called "Lālasā-mayī Prārthanā--Prayers in Great Longing." This song shows that the mood of feeling oneself to be most fallen and intensely hankering for that day when one can awaken one's Krishna consciousness is a very auspicious, wonderful mood for a devotee to have.

Prayers in Great Longing

'gaurāṅga' bolite habe pulaka-śarīra

'hari hari' bolite nayane ba' be nīra

TRANSLATION

When will that opportune moment come to me when there will be shivering of the body as soon as I chant Lord Gaurāṅga's name? And after the shivering, while chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, when will there be tears pouring down from my eyes?

āra kabe nitāi-cānder koruṇā hoibe

saṁsāra-bāsanā mora kabe tuccha ha'be

TRANSLATION

And when will Nityānanda bestow His causeless mercy upon me so that my desire for material enjoyment will become very insignificant? When will that time come?

viṣaya chāriyā kabe śuddha ha 'be mana

kabe hāma herabo śrī-bṛndābana

TRANSLATION

When my mind is completely purified, being freed from material anxieties and desires, then I shall be able to understand Vṛndāvana and the conjugal love of Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa, and then my spiritual life will be successful.

rūpa-raghunātha-pade hoibe ākuti

kabe hāma bujhabo se jugala-pīriti

TRANSLATION

When shall I be very much eager to study the books left by the Six Gosvāmīs? One has to learn of the conjugal loving affairs of Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa through the teachings of these Six Gosvamīs.

rūpa-raghunātha-pade rahu mora āśa

prārthanā koroye sadā narottama-dāsa

TRANSLATION

Narottama Dāsa always longs to remain at the lotus feet of Śrīla Rūpa and Raghunātha Dāsa Gosvāmīs.

Question: How to Understand Lord Caitanya?

Dear Srila Gurudev! Dear Srimati Gurumataji! Please accept my respectful obeisances!
All glories to Srila Prabhupada! Hare Krshna!

Please don't worry about me. I am fine.🙏
Please help me to understand the tattva about Lord Chaitanya correctly. We know that Lord Chaitanya is Krishna Himself in the mood of Radharani. At the same time we are told that Gauranga is the combined form of Radha and Krishna. How can I combine these two understandings correctly?
With great love, your little servant, Sadhvi d d.

Answer: Here's How

From: Austin, Texas USA

My Dear Sadhvi,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

May Lord Nrsimhadeva give you unlimited protection there in the Ukraine war zone.

In the Caitanya Bhagavat it is stated:

"śrī-kṛṣṇa-caitanya rādhā-kṛṣṇa nahe anya
Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu is none other than the combined form of Śrī Śrī Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa."

And Bhaktivinoda Thakur has written:

"nadīyā-śaśadhar, māyāpur-īśwar,
nāma-pravartana sura
gṛhi-jana-śikṣaka, nyāsi-kula-nāyaka,
mādhava rādhā-bhāva-pūra
Lord Caitanya is the moon over the town of Nadīyā, the Lord of Śrī Māyāpur-dhām, and the propagator of His own holy name. He is saintly in behavior, and is the instructor of householders. He is the hero of those who are in the renounced order. He is the husband of the Goddess of Fortune, and He is overflowing with
the ecstatic sentiments of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī.

In the Caitanya Caritamrita, Madhya Lila, Chapter 8, Text 282

"tabe hāsi’ tāṅre prabhu dekhāila svarūpa
’rasa-rāja’, ’mahābhāva’—dui eka rūpa
Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa is the reservoir of all pleasure, and Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī is the personification of ecstatic love of Godhead. These two forms had combined as one in Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. This being the case, Lord Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu
revealed His real form to Rāmānanda Rāya."

PURPORT
This is described as rādhā-bhāva-dyuti-suvalitaṁ naumi kṛṣṇa-svarūpam. Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa was absorbed in the features of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī. This was disclosed to Rāmānanda Rāya when he saw Lord Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. An advanced devotee can understand śrī-kṛṣṇa-caitanya, rādhā-kṛṣṇa nahe anya. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, being a combination of Kṛṣṇa and Rādhā,
is nondifferent from Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa combined. This is explained by Svarūpa Dāmodara Gosvāmī:

rādhā kṛṣṇa-praṇaya-vikṛtir hlādinī śaktir asmād
ekātmānāv api bhuvi purā deha-bhedaṁ gatau tau
caitanyākhyaṁ prakaṭam adhunā tad-dvayaṁ caikyam āptaṁ
rādhā-bhāva-dyuti-suvalitaṁ naumi kṛṣṇa-svarūpam
[Cc. Ādi 1.5]

Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa is one. Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa is Kṛṣṇa and Kṛṣṇa’s pleasure potency combined. When Kṛṣṇa exhibits His pleasure potency, He appears to be two—Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa. Otherwise, Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa are one. This oneness may be perceived by advanced devotees through the grace of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. This was the case with Rāmānanda Rāya. One may aspire to attain such a position, but one should not try to imitate the mahā-bhāgavata.

————————————————————————————

So we can understand that Lord Caitanya being in the mood of Radharani and being the combined form of Radha and Krishna is two ways of saying the same thing.

I hope this meets you in the best of health.
Your ever well-wisher,

Sankarshan Das Adhikari
