Devotee Association is Absolutely Necessary

If you are at all serious about awakening your dormant love for Krishna, your Krishna consciousness, you must take full advantage of the association of the devotees. The Caitanya Caritamrita, Madhya Lila, Chapter 22, Text 54 describes how valuable is that association:

’sādhu-saṅga’, ‘sādhu-saṅga’—sarva-śāstre kaya
lava-mātra sādhu-saṅge sarva-siddhi haya

“The verdict of all revealed scriptures is that by even a moment’s association with a pure devotee, one can attain all success."

That one moment, lava-mātra, is according to astronomical calculations, only one eleventh of a second. So if even for one eleventh of a second we take full advantage of the association of the devotees, we achieve all perfection.

So what are we waiting for? It's time to get serious now about taking full advantage of devotee association.

Question: Who Should I Follow?

Thank you for these valuable thoughts and lessons. I am Aditi here from Mumbai, India. Should I chant Radha's name or the Hare Krishna mantra? In Vrindavan people recommend chanting Radha or Radhakrishna. I am not the follower of any sampradaya. But I always think about this. What if one loves both views? I love ISKCON and also the Radhavallabh sampradaya people. And also the respective philosophies. I watch videos of both. Is it OK? Please guide me. 🙏

If you want to be successful in your spiritual life, do not follow popular sentiment. Follow the scriptures. Here is what is stated in the authoritative scripture, the Kali-santaraṇa Upaniṣad:

hare kṛṣṇa hare kṛṣṇa
kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa hare hare
hare rāma hare rāma
rāma rāma hare hare

iti ṣoḍaśakaṁ nāmnāṁ
kali-kalmaṣa-nāśanaṁ
nātaḥ parataropāyaḥ
sarva-vedeṣu dṛśyate

“After searching through all the Vedic literature, one cannot find a method of religion more sublime for this age than the chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa.”

I am prepared to give you all help in awakening your divine consciousness by regularly chanting the Hare Krishna mahamantra.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me.
