The Ocean Always Keeps the Same Level

Let All Material Desires Evaporate

In Bhagavad-gita Chapter 2, Text 70 Lord Krishna mercifully gives us the simple technique by which we can can conquer over our material desires. As long as we have material bodies it is natural to have desires of the tongue, belly, and genitals. If we give in to these desires, we will remain on the animal platform unqualified to go back to home, back to Godhead. But if we can control these desires by only using our tongue, belly, and genitals in the service of the Lord, we will become qualified to go back to the spiritual world after leaving our present bodies. Here's how Krishna explains this technique:

āpūryamāṇam acala-pratiṣṭhaṁ
samudram āpaḥ praviśanti yadvat
tadvat kāmā yaṁ praviśanti sarve
sa śāntim āpnoti na kāma-kāmī

"A person who is not disturbed by the incessant flow of desires—that enter like rivers into the ocean, which is ever being filled but is always still—can alone achieve peace, and not the man who strives to satisfy such desires."

So the key is if for example you get a lusty desire to have sex other than for procreation, you should not act on that desire by having sex or masturbating. You should just fix your mind on Krishna, be a little patient, and let the desire evaporate. In this way the ocean of your mind will remain peaceful and your pathway back to Home, back to Godhead will remain clear and unobstructed.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me.
