Sex Won't Take You Back to Godhead​​​​​​​​​​​​

Sex pleasure binds to us to misidentify ourselves with our gross material body and thus remain entangled n the cycle of repeated birth and death. Therefore those who aspire for self-realization completely give up having sex. Or if they want to have children to raise them in Krishna consciousness ( a truly noble and beautiful spiritual desire), they only engage in sex for procreation, strictly avoiding recreational sex. Since the most likely time to impregnate one's wife is just after her monthly menstrual cycle, aspiring transcendalists who want to have children will have sex only once a month just after their wife's menstrual cycle. And to purify the act of conception for bringing a highly advanced spiritualist into the world the husband and wife will both chant at least 50 rounds of Hare Krishna japa mala before they engage in sex. Such sex is glorious and is described by Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad-gita to be Krishna Himself. Any sex besides this will bind one to take birth again in the material world in order to satisfy his sexual propensities. Therefore such illicit sex is strictly avoided by those who are serious about being Krishna conscious. They consider it to a useless waste of time and worse than death.

Question: How to Stop Sex Desire?

I happened to see you giving a Srimad Bhagavatam class on Vrindavan.tv just now. You mentioned you can help anyone relieve themselves of sexual desire if they email you. I need help.

My background: I have been very interested in Prabhupada’s teachings for the last 3 years - reading Bhagavad-gita As It Is, Nectar of Devotion, and now starting the Srimad Bhagavatam Canto 1.

I am not even to the level of being a neophyte devotee yet. So I have much to learn. I would love to talk more with you especially on stopping my sex and lust desires. I truly believe the only way to follow this path in to remain celibate but I find it impossible.

Answer: Develop a Higher Taste

Unless one gets a higher taste it is impossible to give up a lower taste. But uf you will regularly chant the Hare Krishna mahamantra early every morning with deep attention, you will gradually develop a taste that is so sublime that you will forget about all material pleasures. I know this from the teachings of Srila Prabhupada and from my own personal experience.

I will be most likely giving the morning lecture at our Los Angeles temple on June 27 and 28, and I hope to meet you personally at that time.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
